I’m catching up on my CIY and BIY and I am blown away that on June 16 2023 my husband and I along with 68 others were on a pilgrimage in the holy land and on this day, 6/16/23, were at the Jordan River - the site of Christ’s baptism, and with Fr Jeffrey Kirby we all renewed our baptismal promises - What a blessing - and we prayed for you Fr Mike amd all of our CIY and BIY friends- “in him you are redeemed, in him you are saved”

Our baptism promise is renewed every year around Easter. That is when the priest sprinkles water on us as he walks down the aisle. Some years, I get very wet, others not so much.

At 44, when I converted, I was so jealous of this woman in RCIA class, who had never been baptized. 😂

I moved to a Muslim country almost 3 months ago. There is a mosque behind where I live. The timings of their prayers are what I follow to say the Breviary.

Would you baptize it, even though the babys parents are for example muslims and don't want their baby to be baptized? Baptizing the baby would be for the baby's good so its soul would go to heaven right after death (but also without baptism it wouldn't be condemned, it was just in a place, which name I forgot and peacefully wait their until the last judgment). Thank you Jesus for your great gifts and mercy. How can we make baptism more accessible to people. We want to make sure they understand what it all means, of course, but I am struggling right now with the fact that my grandchildren want to be Catholic but live in split custody families one week there one week gone, and their father would let them go, let them be pursue this, even though he is an atheist now, or so he says. The mother I just don't know, on her week. The scheduling of the church at this point seems an impediment to their being taught and baptized. They simply could not be there every Sunday, nor meet at scheduled classes that presume a whole and simple family life. Can the church allow them to attend classes on a more flexible schedule, so they can pursue their goal? I think of the wealthy Ethiopian who was on a journey and encountered Phillip, and after some teaching on that journey, the Ethopian said, stop what prevents me from being baptized right now. Phillip: Nothing. They hop down and boom, The Ethiopian who believed and was full of faith was baptized. I just wonder if we have maybe become about schedules and punch cards, rather than the immediacy of the need to save souls. Can anyone help me better understand. Thank you.

Jesus allowed Himself to be baptized, thus proving He was fully man as well as fully God. Just as He was born of a mortal, Mary. I used this analogy when a Protestant friend said that "God needs no mother".

Day 167 I LIKED 1. @ 03:48 ' The Spirit who had hovered over the waters of the first creation descended then on the Christ as a prelude of the new creation, an the Father revealed Jesus as his "beloved Son". RFLT - This statement contains so much food for thought. We are in the scene of Baptism of Christ at the banks of river Jordan and John the Baptist speaks. Refer Gospel Luke 3:16 "So John said to all of them, “I baptize you with water, but someone is coming who is much greater than I am. I am not good enough even to untie his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 He has his winnowing shovel with him, to thresh out all the grain and gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn the chaff in a fire that never goes out.” Note John is baptising only with water. Cleansing is essentially carried out. Jesus do not need cleansing as he remained sinless. Jesus do not need repentance, for he 'never rejected his father's love', he never sinned. Jesus did not need a baptism ! Does the humanity in Jesus need it? Does it need John's baptism? Or, does it need baptism of the Holy Spirit? Now, from the time of conception of Jesus in Mother Mary's womb, Jesus was completely both human and divine. This implies that Holy Spirit remained with Him throughout his earthly stay. Reading on from Gospel Luke 3:21 "After all the people had been baptized, Jesus also was baptized. While he was praying, heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit came down upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my own dear Son. I am pleased with you.” At river Jordan, Holy Spirit who was present with Jesus manifested, appeared, descended on Jesus. Holy Spirit descended on the humanity of Jesus. Thus he, the humanity in Jesus becomes the first to receive baptism of the Holy Spirit. John did not baptize with Holy Spirit. Not in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. He was aware of the Spirit. John's baptism prepares the occasion for Jesus to assume the role. The Father and the Holy Spirit was present to baptize the humanity of Jesus. The question "Do you reject Satan and his works?' is worth pondering on. Before we talk about belief in Jesus, the Holy trinity, the Catechumen has to answer a blunt question. A cute two word answer "I do" settles the issue for that moment. The ritual continue. Does the person Satan to reject him.? Does he know him after all to reject him? Has he experienced satanic interventions in his life? Entertained the Satan's wily suggestions? Has he suffered from such interventions? Only a victim at the hands of Satan can answer the question with confidence and surety. And if one has, the ANSWER will take him a long way into the Christian way of living. Much more than the belief in the Redeemer, the torture due from the Deceiver, takes the lead. The hapless victim cries for help, and finds it in Jesus the Saviour. The 3 year long catechism takes him to the knowledge of the Holy Trinity, the Mother church and so on. The caution is on the deceiver. Nowadays, the presence of Satan in our poor hapless lives are sidelined. This itself is the mastermind of Satan. While protecting from the darkness outside, one is able to see the light from within.. There is baptism of water then a baptism by martyrdom and the baptism by fire talked about in the gospels. Would someone like to expound upon these?

Jesus Christ sanctifies the water of the Jordan River by His immersion into it. Jesus brings the mess of humanity into the sanctifying waters. Baptism DOES something to the soul. It is NOT just a symbol. It is efficacious. It makes us into God’s children. It washes away Original Sin and Actual sin. It makes us into Temples of the Holy Spirit. Baptism and Faith go hand in hand. It was the faith of our parents and Godparents who said “YES” for us.

Repent and be baptized. Or "turn from sin and plunged into the Kingdom." Or "Choose the good and die from one path towards annihilation to new birth into a path towards eternal bliss." Or "Choose to live and be transformed completely." I cannot, no matter how I try, to conceptualize sin.

Saints tell us that the number of peole who go to heaven is incredibly small. The VAST majority burn in unimaginable terror and agony forever, including nearly all catholics. Some go to purgatory for an unknown time period. Given this reality, is it right to procreate cildren knowing they will most likely spend and enterinity burnig alive tormented by demons ?
