Probably because 3/4 of his medals were for relay events, and it's an individual award. One person doesn't win a relay- you have to have a strong team, which China does have. In contrast Wiffen competes for ireland who's relay teams just aren't competitve (I don't think Wiffen is on the team anyways). Also worth mentioning that he's more of a long distance swimmer vs a sprinter. There are far more medals to be won in the shorter distances.

MVP for male is 2 gold winner Daniel Wiffin instead of 4 gold winner and the only swimmer break the world record in this tournament-Zhanle Pan.

It's just based on a points system, the winner is not picked by people to avoid accusations of bias like this.

USA should’ve have won that. They need to base it on gold medals not overall. Bronze medals should be worth 1 point, silver 2 and gold 3…

07:04 - The USA were acknowledged as the team of the tournament with 20 medals? Just the total number of gold medals of team China were 23, which is more than the total amount of medals of the USA, with a total medal count of 33. Shouldn't team China be declared the "team of the tournament" or is this some Nato/Western propaganda again?
