The Lord is Sovereign and Merciful. In His Sovereignty, He makes our sin yield to His purposes, and punishes it. He doesn’t choose sin (“God is light, and in Him there is no darkness,” 1 Jn 1:5), but He transforms its destructive purpose into building His kingdom, and corrects the evil that He uses. I’ve seen this pattern in my own life-that what the enemy meant for my downfall, He uses to teach me and draw me closer to Him. He does this out of His merciful nature. If He mourns for even a pagan nation, how much more kind and merciful is He to those He has marked by His name? “Should we sin so that He can show more grace? By no means!” (Rom 6:1) He wants me to mourn over my own sin, repent, and rejoice in how He never gives up on me!

Over and again God sends warning to His people. His delay in punishing their sin is not His approval. God doesn’t turn His head and choose not to notice. He is long suffering and wanting people to choose to repent instead of sending His judgement. God shows extreme mercy in giving them time for repentance. Yet the people continue in sin with no regard to God’s warning. God’s judgement does come. It is terrible. However God has a plan to use their captivity to bring them out of captivity in their own hearts. God is so KIND. Even in the face of rejection He loves.

There was so much destruction, pain and famine in today's reading. But God has a promise He reminds us of His LOVE. God loves His children and although our sins have consequences, He keeps His promise of sending a Savior. In LOVE, God gives us an alternative to sin and corruption. He offers us a way out of Damnation. "The oppressor will come to an end, and destruction will cease; the aggressor will vanish from the land. IN LOVE a throne will be established; IN FAITHFULNESS a man will sit on it- one from the house of David- one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness." Isaiah 16:4-5 NIV‬ God is angry, but He is also just and faithful. Ultimately, He wants only connection and loyalty from us. God, work with me so that I may be a humble follower of You and Your Word and may I not stray from the narrow path your instruction and Jesus's example gives me to walk.

Today I learned a new name, well I think I’ve heard it before and maybe today I learned the meaning of it, for the Lord our God. That name is the Lord of Hosts. This means that he is the God of the Armies. And this kind of ties into my God shot today. In Isaiah 14:24 God is speaking as the Lord of Hosts, “The Lord Almighty has sworn, ‘Surely as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.’” God’s plans do not change. He has been omniscient since before time began.

Lord I pray for the people in this chat as well as the words they are speaking regarding your Word. I pray we won’t take anything out of context or give false information based on what we don’t understand. Please read the Bible and meditate on it day and night. The trinity is biblical and I thank you for your everlasting Word. GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, GOD OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

This was a tough read. I think I understand what you said in the beginning better now. We may not always understand what God is doing, but it all has a purpose. I just have to hang in there on these tough days.

Thanks for the link to the article. It reminded me of what I learned about the word elohim. From what I understand, it means heavenly being and because God is the chief heavenly being, Elohim is capitalized when referring to Him.

I think it’s pretty clear in Isaiah 14 that it is Lucifer and it is describing his fall. I always love the recap but this one did not sit well with me. Also the destruction of Damascus is often thought of as a yet to be fulfilled prophecy. I was surprised she did not mention that. This is why it’s important we search out the scripture ourselves and let the Bible confirm the Bible. I still love this plan and recaps but I will continue to read, pray, and let Gods word show me understanding.

TLC and all good teachers would wholeheartedly agree with you. Like the Veterans who questioned Paul, search the scriptures to see if it be so!

Where is it written that Damascus’s destruction is still to come?

@@daisyumutoni8957 As is sometimes the case, prophetic passages may have a “near and far” application or a “dual fulfillment.” The Assyrians pillaged Damascus, but Damascus did not cease being a city as prophesied (Isaiah 17:1). The ultimate fulfillment of this prophecy may occur at the beginning of a Lord Jesus’ millennial reign when He judges the Gentile nations.

I was so hoping that you would talk about Isaiah 13:16 from today's reading. Many non-believers try to use this to "show God's cruelty." They like to calim that if God is so loving, why would he allow this to happen to innocent banies? It would be nice to have had further detail on this passage and how to share what was really going on here with someone who is not a believer.
