Sayonara is a type of goodbye when you don see someone for a VERY long time, jaane is another

Sayonara iirc is only used if you are not seeing the person for a long time, as in years - so not really every day usage

Yeah, that's right. It's a bit formal and you use it for a person that will travel or you cannot see for a long time

If ur a pupil, u can say sayonara to a teacher but people in general, it would be like "Goodbye Forever" ..

kinda like "goodbye" in english as well. you don't really use it with anyone that you see every day

why the phonetic notation looks different with the hiragana, should it be 'Wa ta shi no ga tsu ko u ha bi yo u i n no chi ka ku ni a ru'?

The "tsu" is smaller which turns "ga" into "gak"
