For the rolling to take affect, you have to roll AFTER you plant/seed your crop. The small stones will still be pushed back into the ground, but the “rolling” still doesn’t take affect if you do it before planting/seeding.

I always found mowing and turning grass into silage and selling it at the biogas plant was the most profitable with the least amount of effort. I saved on planting but would fertilize once a year and then cut, spread, cut and spread, then roll up into the storage trailer and dump in the big bays for fermentation. I'd use a endload attachment to scoop and dump until it was empty. Eventually, I'd get up enough to buy bigger equipment to make it faster and then money was rolling until I could buy the big wind turbine. It's not as fun but to get quick money it's the fastest way.

I had to restart my initial attempt because I had a ton of mods installed. Second attempt, I'm still running a couple of mods, so it's not apples to apples for what you have, but it's things like production revamp that allow you to spawn pallets as needed, better contracts, precision farming, DLC, and a lot of the rest of the DLCs. So yes, most certainly more than the absolute basics. That said, I haven't done anything absurd so far. I bought a small tractor in the 100 to 150 horsepower range, bought the small combine that you got as well, I believe it's a Rostelmash. I then started doing contracts. That said, better contracts is almost certainly game breaking in the early stages. Especially when combined with running lower time multipliers than you do. I'm perfectly happy playing at 6X, if not slower, and I frequently find myself running into darkness when I do. But, being able to just keep spawning contracts that you want, lots of harvesting contracts, for example, does make that mod a little broken. You still have to do the work, and with small equipment. The work does take a while. But with slower time multipliers, that's not as big a deal. One thing that might actually have benefited you, Pickle, was that I rented the second smallest fertilizer spreader, the red trailed one, because it can also apply lime. I then bought lime and fertilizer for my fields, and proceeded to use it to complete another couple contracts to help me offset the cost of the spreader rental.

Definitely sell that medium greenhouse and buy 3 or more large greenhouses if you’re going to keep it on selling.

Soy beans don’t make more money than canola, they are worth more but you get less of them so it works out the same. Check out farmer cop channel he has loads of of videos on this proving which crops make more money.

Keep the rented tractor tell fuel goes dry. If repar gage goes down before 1/2 tank fuel repair, otherwise it's a rental run in to ground. Don't bother driving the rental back to store to sell. Work towards sugarcane or a root based crop. With the longer distance to places, get something (eventually) that can go more then 20mph, a big rig, low boy and a large grain trailer.

I´m loving this series and the slow but semiconstant progress. Probably the economic drawbacks are the most realistic part of it 😅 We will be getting there 👍 Eventually Hopefully Keep it up!

Ive been following along with your play through. today I decided to give it a try and take a break from my big 4x Florida farm. I scoured your comments looking for rules in Ep 1 and found a comment where you laid out some of the rules. I am at the end of august, my loan is paid off, I have 126k in the bank and some oats in the train silo waiting. I own nothing except a used 6S. I recommend field lease mod for field flipping, it attaches a value to the field so it's not just a free land purchase. I am using some of the tardis trailers and lots of AI as me and the kiddo are building brio trains and lego city stuff while im playing. it's expensive but so far so good. I am going to play until I hit a million in the bank and own a small field with a house. I am hoping less than 24 months. Depends on how motivated I am over the winter with logging!

I think if youre not in a rush and you're motivated to get shit done you should use greenhouses. The big one is only 10k and you only need a small water transporter (8k) to Transport water and thats it. For loading the pallets with the goods you can load them while they are still partially full by hand(light enough) or get a Palette loader mod if you dont wanna buy some kind of machine. Its a good investment and the return is instant.

about the greenhouse- i own a greenhouse and if you are into gardening i do reccccomeed but you need to know how to water them and how to deal with all the bad bugs that will eat your plants.

It's just hard to comprehend the struggles with timing when you literally control time and when to start tasks

I think smarter would be for you to sell the combine and leass that because you only need it one time a year and buy a tractor insted you would save money and earn more.

Early in any game, you can use the train silos for free storage, elm creek has two, 500,000l each. You can reload to a trailer outside the station, if for some reason you need to.

Never should have bought the harvester. Should have bought the tractor and leased the harvester when you needed it. You use a tractor all the time, only use the harvester once a year.
