Appreciate the honesty. I hate taking PPIs but your reaction really makes me gunshy on looking into this device. Hope you keep getting better, but six weeks seems like a pretty decent amount of acclimating time.

I’m 3 weeks post op and experiencing these exact symptoms. They hurt and take my breath away and leave me feeling exhausted afterwards. They last up to 4 hours at a time, and leave my chest feeling very sore. I go back do work on Monday so I’m kinda scared. I’m just glad to hear I’m not the only one who is experiencing this. I pray it gets better. Scared to eat, scared not to eat. Trying to find the solution.

Hey @nelliearagon3655, GrumpyOldMan (my husband) had this surgery on (11-14-23). He had a virus (stomach with severe diarrhea) that sent us to the ER on 11-25-23. And then he had another attack on 11-28-23. So, we went back to the ER. I hope you're doing better. I'm worried and scared. It's about 3:30 am and I'm looking for answers. Please let me know how you're doing and what you have done. Signed: Mrs. GrumpyOldMan

Man I watched all your videos, it’s been 5 weeks since my linx surgery and I almost choked to death in a restaurant due to dysphagia like 2 weeks ago, a shrimp got stuck and maybe because I drank too much water to make it go through I started drowning, I ended up throwing up twice and smashing myself against the bar counter to bang my diaphragm like a self inflicted heimlich until eventually the shrimp went DOWN, quite a scene, but I finished my dinner ;) my point is that dysphagia is extremely tough, I have hiccups and I feel the food coming up to my throat when I am trying to swallow. I have found that drinking SMALL sips of water and walking helps to break the forming scar tissue and once it goes down then I can eat more with no problem but the first bolus is the hardest and the most painful one, hiccups and throwing up feeling along with extremely chest pain. I am very fit 46 male, single digit fat percentage, I have lost 10 pounds in these 5 weeks because I can’t eat much or trying to eat slowly to avoid the dysphagia makes me feel satisfied too soon to eat the same. I am sticking to solid food and trying not to eat protein shakes in order to break the scar tissue. It’s been pretty tough 2 weeks and I really hope the dysphagia begin to subside after the 6th week that supposedly is the hardest. Did your dysphagia go away? Hang in there!!

Hey, thanks for posting the ups and downs and keeping it real. In terms of the diaphragmatic spasms, i'm not sure if you've explored this, but a lot of times could be due to phrenic nerve irritation. I'm not entirely sure the solution either, but just thought if you are still having hiccups, they could maybe take a look at that?
@mtyner269
@mtyner269 3 жыл бұрын
Funny you say that. I went to another doctor yesterday. Stating the same thing. His guess is that the LINX has not had time to “open up” which in time it will therefore gas and if foods are stuck are irritating the nerve / diaphragm giving me hiccups. Since taking Baclofen now a week and new meds he gave me last night, which relax the esophagus I have had less symptoms of hiccups. It’s been a huge ease on me for the past 8-9 days. That may be the most relief I have had since my operation in June. He stated as the band looses up he feels all symptoms should subside. After many months it’s nice to hear possibly an end to this and be more normal soon.
@ihyho
@ihyho 3 жыл бұрын
@@mtyner269 I hope you find some much deserved relief. I think all patients that go through the linx (or any other antireflux) procedure should be routinely prescribed anti-inflammatories, steroids and muscle relaxants (antispasmotics), and not waiting until something bad happens.

@mtyner269
@mtyner269 3 жыл бұрын
las vegas player yes you can ask me any questions you have. First was endoscopy of course. Once they saw Barrets was forming I then had more test done. I can get you the technical names if needed. One sticking a tube down your throat and swallow some water to measured the strength of your esophagus. Then for 24 hours a smaller tube thank God down your nose measures your acid levels and you wear a monitor, you push a button each time a symptom happens and note what it was which they didn’t me enough paper to write on. Lol. The doctor will see if your a candidate for LINX. It’s been over 2 months. I’m much better but not perfect yet. My research on here shows it’s a long recovery period.

las vegas player sorry I’m slow here I want to help and I may miss one of your questions. My symptoms? Began long ago with hiccups. 24/7. The acid puts my diaphragm on spasms. Then bloating of the stomach. Then after eating throwing up acid in my mouth. All this kept getting worse within a year to a point I couldn’t sleep. Up all night throwing up in my mouth and dehydration. All I ate at this time ALL DAY long was oatmeal and lots of rice cakes with peanut butter. I lost about 20 pounds too. After surgery eating is a challenge still for many months but because of the scar tissue building up around the LINX. I have put my weight back on but it’s not easy. I eat every 2 hours or so. You can’t eat a lot at once and I still eat clean to a point. I can now eat some regular foods. But pizza and cheese burgers is out of the question. It took many weeks to get my energy back. I am back in the gym and making gains now.
