I can't wait to see how your new shoes do. Thanks for showing the process. I went from Altras to Topos to Hokas myself. The Solomon did not do well for me under wet conditions...slid on the rocks to much. I'm absolutely loving the Hokas.

Switching to a new type of shoe on trail is so tough! It may alleviate problems, or it may cause new problems and exacerbate old ones! I would just stick to what you know works and resign to replace them more often. Expensive - but your little tootsies are so worth it! ❤

The California black bear has fur that ranges from black to cinnamon. A brown phenotype is not unusual in California.

Shoe shopping is such a tedious and frustrating task. I’m currently trying to figure out a new pair of trail runners myself bc I’ve determined my Altras (that I’ve had for several years and rarely used) are best for short in-town walks and not great for the trail at all. I’m going to try out some Danners 2650 a few weeks before a backpacking trip, so I sure hope both you and I find something that work for us. Best of luck!

Love the paintings amazing. I used Tapo adventures and Tapo pursuits love them. They do hold up a little better than the ultras, but I do like ultras also.

You should make Bird calls art into postcards with maybe a quote from you, and sell them at the stores along the trail with relevent ones to the area! I bought postcards all along the AT and definately would have loved to have been buying them from hikers!

I switched from HOKA Speedgoats to Salomon Thundercross. They are definitely a different fit and slightly tighter, but my feet really like them, and I find them more balanced. Also, the upper is MUCH more durable. Everyone's foot is different and you have to find what works for you. Good luck and thanks for the videos. :-)

Wearing micro spikes probably doesnt help either on the shoes and the Sierra is hard on shoes.

On your shoes try losing the laces .You can also try jamming a pole in the shoe to stretch the side or wherever shoe feels uncomfortable.

How lazy you all were with food in the middle of bear country was unsafe for not only you but has now taught the bear bad habits that it will continue to exercise. I’m young party way hard but this group would be the ego-maniacs I and everyone else avoid.
