From watching all your PCT videos, you are obviously a thoughtful, introspective and caring person. Women who are also smart, strong, independent, confident and have a sense of humor always draw those that want to tear us down and undermine our confidence in ourselves. That is their problem! lol Pay no attention to those couch critics:) You being you and you definitely awesome!!!

The people who are criticizing you probably aren’t even hikers. I wouldn’t take much stock and what they say hike your own hike and I know you’re not forcing anybody to do anything they don’t want to. I think your idea of sticking to a plan makes a whole Lotta sense. Happy hiking.

RR you are a freaking machine! I love the sassy side, I love the talented side, and you are one heck of an athlete and so much fun to watch. Remember commenters don’t see but a snippet of the reality of what is going on. You are doing great! (And nothing wrong with kindly setting folks straight - which I know you do!) Go RR go! Can’t believe you are half way! I may cry when you are done bc I truly look so forward to your daily adventures! Super inspiring!

I don't think you are running anybody in the ground. If the other people with you don't feel like hiking so many miles in a day they can stop on their own.You all get along very well together. I think you are all lucky to have met each other and gone as far as you have so far.Just be yourself. You are a great young lady.I think people would be lucky to have you as a friend.

I grew up around mules and horses. When I started sharing my life with horses again as an adult, I just did what was in my memory and what the horses showed me was right for them. My horses were calm and always ready to try the task at hand. Some horse people tried to set me 'straight', but I let the horses guide me. There is no one way to do anything. You are respected and valued as an epic thru-hiker.

Wise words from your mom. There was a wonderful German lady who went above and beyond to help me out when I got severely injured on my 2023 AT thru-hike that required a trip to the ER. Those traits get passed down from generation to generation.

Hi Juliane, as a believer, that small still voice, for me, is the Holy Spirit keeping me safe and sound.... Boujee can relate. I remember when you had that same "gut" feeling on the AT regarding another hiker... and you listened. The people who criticize are either not vested, jealous or have an alternative agenda. You are beautiful lady, sassy, spunky, self-aware, compassionate, thoughtful and full of witty banter and sarcasm. You are fun girl! Never second-guess yourself. That is why I support and follow you as much as I can. Stay safe and smart!

Great plan and great execution! Tripping might be due to worn out shoes? I love your commitment to daily personal hygiene, brushing your teeth, combing and braiding your hair, washing your face and neck, etc. makes the day start better. The rest of it is TMI!! Halfway! 🎉No Fireball shot? As far as personality and personal perspective go you are awesome! Some people might think you are too much but I like it! A woman should be smart, strong, independent, honest, practical when called for, and able to accomplish her goals. But also smart enough to know when to get help. When you find a mate that person should have similar traits as you will reinforce each other to do great things together! Keep on hiking, hope your zero was fun as well as recharging your battery after long days. At least not 9 days between Showers this time!

Congrats on reaching the halfway point!🎉 Big mileage on yesterday's video and today, too, you deserve a zero 😊 Yeah, there's always folks to tell you what you're doing wrong and it's rarely worth listening to them. Chester is where my son was camped on the football field during the month he spent fighting the Canyon Complex Fire back in 2009, a precursor (less than 50,000 acres) to the incredibly destructive Dixie Fire (so bad the town of Greenville was burned out of existence, I don't know if they've been successful at rebuilding the town). Next time you stuff your Cnoc with snow, wrap a dark plastic bag or windshirt or your black shorts around it and that will capture more radiant heat from the sun to accelerate the melting speed (I always carry a couple of black and orange 50 gallon drum liners for emergency ponchos or shelters or ground sheets or to stuff with mattress materials, or aerial SAR markings, etc.).

Good morning, Juliane. Congrats on reaching the halfway mark. At least the marker was better than a paper on a tree that moves every year. Lol. Beautiful scenery. Some of your trips and misjudgments may have been due to limited water and not eating. I would have loved to see what you ate when you got to town. Be careful, it's hot out there, and you need to stay well hydrated. You're doing great. And, looky, looky who showed up. You found Somewhere. Never know where or when that gal is gonna show up. Juliane, hope you enjoyed your zero. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Whoever wrote to you that you're "run the others to the ground", has no idea what thru hiking is. They are grown adults, they can hike whatever they want (and they obviously do) and can slow down or hike fast or do whatever. And if they were exhausted then that's on THEM. Not on you. It was a stupid comment. You did not sign up to baby sit others. You hike in a tramily while it suits you. Commenters think sometimes that thru hike is some sort of summer camp in a youth resort. Congrats on your halfway mark. It's so sad to see the fire aftermath. I remember going through that mid point monument and everything around was green and lush... Oh and, maybe you made a lot of stupid mistakes today because your "gooooooooood morning" was not the usual one. It was just "good morning" this time. 🤣

That was a big day. It's hard work to make logical decisions as well as just do the hike, so I think your error on water carry is understandable. You hadn't quite processed in your head just how far it was until the next water source. Lesson learned though. The Tramily is important to you so you make conscious accommodations to your personal plan to continue to have the group experience. That's your choice. Hopefully you are getting good weather for hiking wherever you are on the trail today. My bit of Scotland has had rain and cool temperatures for all of July so far, on top of a crap June. Rain and 11C today...

Never happy to hear of someone falling, but it makes me feel a little less horrible when I fall as a legally blind hiker. I stumble a lot, always have, that’s made me pretty nimble at hopping out of them before falling. Had two heavy falls on my ‘19 trek, but luckily they hurt my spirits more than body. Def be careful about water through NorCal and southern Oregon. 🍻

Water is kinda useful. Eh .. anyone who has never made that mistake either hasn't hiked much or has someone else who has made the mistake along to do their thinking for them. Cramping, peeing orange dust .. builds character. Remember the flip side .. any extra water you're still carrying when you reach the next source was just ballast to keep your pack from being too light.

How does halfway feel? Because when I run marathons, 13.1 miles is so hard that it’s kind of daunting for me to think about doing that all over again so it’s kind of a frustrating feeling at that time. I start to celebrate more when I’m about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way finished.
