So, are TFL allowing you to Record now! I think they should. You did a great job keeping things professional and courteous but also keeping us all entertained. I work in IT myself and just find shit like this really interesting and relaxing. From London myself originally (SE) and enjoy watching a free tour around London! :)

Thanks Stan, and effectively, Yes! 😊 The LTDA (my union) liaised with TfL to understand what the areas of concern were. In short, the initial letter I received was not a direct concern about me, but rather the safety and privacy implications of filming (members of the public, my safety whilst driving etc). Very happy and can't wait to create more content for you all. 2022 will be a great year!

I noticed you didn't show any customers' faces which I think is respectful and fair enough - in the old videos you would sometimes be accosted by people asking silly questions (how much does it cost) and you would film them. Also you didn't have long clips with their voice and obviously wouldn't put in personal info. I'm glad they came around and I'm looking forward to more cab videos.

Tom I really do admire you man. KZfaq alone is a big job, very time consuming. Then you’ve got the countless hours in the taxi, life admin, self employed admin. I don’t know where you find the time, or the motivation! But know this, next time I’m in London I’ll be getting a black cab. Huge respect for the trade mate

Great videos Tom! I know every feeling and experience of your day as I done 17 years in the job. Last Xmas was my last as a LDN Cabbie. My badge is still intact, but I felt a change is needed after being let down by by TfL ,The Mayor and the previous. My heart is no longer in the job and I felt the best thing was to give way to the new generation. Best luck to you in your years ahead.

I’m the same more than 25 years as a green badge not driven since March 2020 still got my bill until October 2022. This pandemic plus TFL and the Mayor in my opinion have decimated a job I used to absolutely love, I just don’t think the earnings are enough now to compensate for all the shit and bureaucracy we have to put up with

Best bits is you out and about on the road, doing and showing us the "punter's" the taxi business. Whilst the cab business maybe going into "kipper season", there are people on the streets and in the shops spending, so not necessarily all bad, but that's way south of the river and probably not where you want to be.

So great to see the driving videos again! I love to see the routes when you pick up customers but do understand privacy concerns etc. I've stopped using Ubers in London now and just get black cabs because of your videos.

There used to be quite a few taxi break ins whilst using the iron lung. Hopefully it's stopped but be aware. Even if you take your money bag with you you'll still be a target.

great video little tip you put white wine vinegar in water and whisk water to create whirlpool then put eggs in they will make a ball

Great video. It's one of the downsides of being a self employed person. The quiet seasons are miserable. I'm a delivery driver and loved the run up to Christmas. But I knew in the back of my mind to not splash my cash because now is quiet. Hopefully things pick up again soon for both of us 👍

Well said! Income aside, it's just a lot harder to be motivated when it's quiet. Like any job, we feel our best when busy and being able to jump from one task to the next.

Excellent video your coffee machine is good. My daily routine is coffee Costa or Starbucks. Yet investment in that machine wuld save me dosh. Anyhow thanks for the videos and reply on my comment on another video. I watched a few more since. I learned about the knowledge and how to tackle etc. Bosh is key word. Happy January to all cabbies I will definitely use more now..

Great Video. “Tear me a new one”? Tough lady? How many trips did you have? Have you tried Polarsteps? See you in real time. I use my Ipad Pro to edit in my cab. Using Lumafushion. It edits 4K flawlessly. Also use my Macbook Air M1 sometimes. In Norway we mostly do not drive around to find a customer. Much time idling at a taxi rank hoping for snow storms, heavy rain or really cold weather. Bad weather - good business.

Tom, how come you don't get a Comcab set in? Up in Liverpool they keep us busy with a lot of corporate and NHS ambulance work so you don't get a massive dip in business in January. As soon as Boris brought in the plan B the work just dropped off.

Fantastic video again Tom, so so happy TFL have given you a bit of wiggle room with filming! The content was still top-notch without it but I think the in-cab stuff definitely perks my interest the most. From south London myself so love seeing all the spots you cruise through in central. It's a car that is slightly different from the Japanese taxi specifications. I felt that London was similar to the traffic situation in Tokyo. Is it a private taxi? Are you self-employed?

They're purpose built vehicles. Have to be fully wheelchair accessible, and have a 16ft turning circle (average car has a 22ft turning circle for reference). Taxi's are a part of the public transport network technically, so can be hailed wherever whereas mini cabs can't. Hope this helps!

Why not take a laptop out with you for editing videos etc?. You can rank up and do the admin stuff and use the dead time.

I just can't get into the flow as well on a small laptop screen and being at work. It's almost like trying to multi task, am I at work, or am I editing? My handheld camera is also 4k and my laptop can barely manage it, making it slow to edit ahah!
