I'm a medical student interested in general surgery. At first I was a bit dissuaded because people said I don't have a "stern, hardcore, 'mean"" personality. But after watching this video, she defintely shows that many different types of personalities can go into such a demanding field like surgery and I'm glad I saw this video.

She's fabulous! My mother is a breast cancer survivor. I know how scary it can be to visit the doc in her case and this lovely lady is def making a difference in patient's lives with how compassionate and sympathetic she seems to be. I wish her the best 💕

Black Doctors are the BEST! I don't go to anybody but Black Doctors. If I get assigned a doctor of a different race, I always request a Black/African doctor. I have had horrible experiences with YT and Indian Doctors. I encourage Black Women to see Black Doctors because they will understand and care about you!

I have had doctors of ALL races provide me with suboptimal care. You cannot use anecdotal "evidence" as justification for only going to black doctors. If your preference is to only have black doctors than that is absolutely fine.

@@JasmineSweeting It's not about evidence or not it's just a pattern you notice. I'm not black nor had a black doctor but I've had white and Asian doctors/nurses treat me and family members, and you can totally see the bias and racism. It's easy for them to disregard you and they don't even try to engage with you. They do what they have to do and walk right out, they also get mad when you ask something ! That's why as Hispanics we also seek Hispanic doctors. My mom refused to give birth her second time unless it was a Hispanic staff taking care of her. When she had me she said the doctor and the nurses(who were white) were impatient and passive aggressive with her. She knew better than to pretend doctors and nurses can't be racist because of their proffesion. FYI my statement and hers is based on experiences and I'm aware doctors and nurses are stressed so their behavior can be off but how can they change attitude from one patient to another without any occurrence in between? You're telling me a doctor being caring with the white patient that then becomes cold with their Hispanic one right after, isn't racist? Literally bullshit.

I would never dream of having extenders after having a botched double mastectomy and having a plastic surgeon re do the surgery 9 weeks later. I am cut from sternum, under my arms around my back on both sides almost to my spine.
