Day in the life of a business intelligence engineer at Amazon. Currently my role is very similar to a mix of a business analyst, data engineer (I use ETL - extract, transform, load and data warehouse), and a data analyst. I talk about the pros and harsh reality of being a data analyst, what a data analyst does, and what types of tasks they do using microsoft excel, sql, python, bi visualization.

Just finished watching all your videos. All your tips are so useful and It's also helping me a lot as I am looking for an entry-level data analyst job. Can you make a video on how to create a portfolio and also a video on a hands-on project using Excel, SQL, and Tableau? Thank you for your effort, Appreciate that.

I like your video. I’m currently working on my bachelor degree in health services management, minor in data science. Also undergraduate certificate in health information management & data analytics. I will also take my CHDA certification to be a certified health data analyst. At my organization, there’s a vacant business data analyst position so I’m hoping to grab that position

This was recommended to me by the algorithm. I am interested in BI but not sure of the diff between BI, DA and DE. I have a background in backend dev, and various vendor apps.

Honestly there's a lot of overlap between BI, DA, and DE and it varies a lot by company. As a BI Engineer, I would say that I do almost all 3 roles lol but the biggest difference would be a BI works much closer to the business than a traditional DA and DE would. It sounds like with a dev background a DE could be a good fit for you but if you enjoy working on business problems a BI is a good mix of the 2 as well.

No alerting when data jobs fails? I no longer deal with on call duty, but have had my share of figuring out if a restart fixes the issue or if there was a change in data structure that I did not expect.

Hi Agatha, Your video is really helpful,, I have a query: Am I eligible to become a data analyst being an ARTs student(GEOGRAPHY Hons.) in 2024? I have learned SQL, Power BI, Python, and Excel. please reply thanks.
@agathakang
@agathakang 3 ай бұрын
Hey! I'm so glad the video is helpful. Yes I have a video on this next week talking about different paths to becoming a data analyst. As long as you have the skills and can show your data analyst experience (projects, work, volunteer) then your degree doesn't matter as much. You can even look into industries where you can leverage your data and ART background for data roles.

The technical skills mostly used are SQL, Excel, and a BI Visualization tool. As for soft skills, data analysts use communication and problem solving skills heavily.
