Our case managers do heroic work every single day.
They’re meeting with clients, exploring encampments, and building bridges to save lives.
We wanted to give you a glimpse into the work that they do so we just released a short video highlighting their work.
When you support Metro Relief this North Texas Giving Day, you’re partnering with our case managers to help people like Ralph, Matthew, and others get the help they need to get into stable housing.

I was homeless for three years. I'm not anymore. I know what it's like. To wake up on the sidewalk with people stepping over you, to be taking shelter under the roof of a bank at two am in the snow, to see the way people look at you while you're digging through the trash for food to eat. I've woken up to my friends ODing on heroin in the middle of a New York City park, I watched them get narcaned. All I knew what to do was get them some coffee and hope that they were okay. I've had to console my sobbing friend as she talks about getting raped after getting too drunk and passing out on the sidewalk. I've been off the street for two years. I always assumed that the type of work you're doing required some sort of college degree, but I've been looking for new work lately and I stumbled across some Homeless Outreach jobs that don't require anything. I reached out to some people and discovered that a lot of these places will hire based off of lived experience. I'm doing everything I can to try and get into this line of work. When I was at my most vulnerable, the homeless population took me in and taught me how to live, how to take care of myself. They loved me when I was rejected by the rest of the world. I've never wanted a particular job more in my life.

I have a team of 15 Peer advocates that beat the streets of palm beach county. You need to connect with the DMV like we did to get ID’s with minimal documentation. My entire team is in recovery from homelessness, drugs and alcohol, mental illness or returning from incarceration. Peers connect better
