Just discovered your channel. I am a CPC, CPMA for 20 years now...I am self employed so I contract with doctors. I actually do coding when the doctor mess up and the claim denies so I end up actually fixing it...I also do surgery authorizations among other things.....I know the answer to the 99214 situation but I respect your job and not here to show off....Lol... Just wanted to poke my head in and say Hi to a fellow coder..

I went to Westech college for medical coding in 2012 and passed exam to be certified through NCCT. Could not get my foot in the door anywhere! Then their school shut down over suspicion of fraud and they NEVER turned my transcripts in to BPPE. Because of this I was unable to do refresher courses at an accredited college. I still renew my NCCT certification yearly. It’s now 2024 and I’m ready to consider it Al huge loss 😟

Would y'all do me a favor? I work on the insurance side and have to call Billing Departments every day. When a person goes in for an annual physical or even colonoscopy, keep the primary diagnosis as preventative and the subsequent codes for the other issues addressed. Even if you remove a polyp, the reason for the visit was preventative. When you change the primary diagnosis from a non HCR code, the patient has to pay when they should not have to due to the preventative nature of the visit.
@mothership923413 күн бұрын
Not a biller, but i literally just had this same procedure done. Colonoscopy with a polyp removal
@ShamyraC13 күн бұрын
Girl…. Sometimes they just don’t get it or the providers just do what is repetition to them even after the provider education. We had a meeting yesterday and the topic was brought about providers billing an extra office e/m in addition to a minor procedure that was scheduled and the reason the patient came in. No other problem/concern was addressed and they KEEP doing it and we have to remove the e/m. Trust me I feel your frustration 🤗 it makes me keke a little bit I didn’t even realize you guys probably have to deal with stuff like this too 🤭

1st I just want to say I'm loving your videos. They're really easing my anxiety about coming into this profession with no coding experience at all. I know you've only done OBGYN, but is there a specialty that you think might not require you to do 20 charges per hour? Maybe like long term care or hospice?
@ShamyraC8 күн бұрын
I’m not sure. I think the harder the cases the less you’d have to do per hour if that makes. For example complex cases you might have to do 5 per hour because they’re so hard code.

Hi Shamyra, are you a Pro Fee coder and do you find that 20 charts per hour is reasonable to obtain?
@ShamyraC7 күн бұрын
Hi Brittany! Yes. I would consider myself to be profee coder. Had to look it up to make sure 😂 I code for the professional side (coding for the physician) not the hospital side. Yes. Very reasonable for me. It’s 20 charges “CPT CODES” per hour if that makes. Not necessarily 20 charts.
@musicmaker8515 күн бұрын
For the very reasons you stated, I am definitely against the cpt and icd-10 codes being on the documentation. It tends to create more confusion if the coder makes any needed changes.
