The concept map looks like soooooo much work! I have been seeing youtubers say it’s a lot of worker but I haven’t actually seen one until now! No wonder it take a few days to complete. Great job summarizing it for us 💕

@DailyDoseofNursing

Hi love!! I decided to do nursing because I really really cared about the meaning behind being a nurse meaning you’re the patients primary source of care and you’re the medium between doctors and therapists and everyone else that walks in the room. I will say it’s hard, but if you’re super passionate about learning for example A&P and learning more about the body and the caring aspect of nursing then I would 10000000% say if you’re going to do it, go ALL the way and do nursing!! If you wanna ask me more questions you can always add me on Instagram so that we can chat. 💗💗

It is really hard to get a new grad position in peds as a nurse. I've worked full time as a CNA for the last 3yrs and about a year ago I landed my dream job in peds at one of the best Children's hospitals there is and I learned that. They're very particular but some experience may help you, they just might look for new grad RN experience in a different field first!
@DailyDoseofNursing
@DailyDoseofNursing 5 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that 😭 I wouldn’t mind being in a different field up until I’m able to get into peds. But I do hope that’s where I end up. Congrats on your dream job, can’t wait to be in your position!! 💗
@tayyll
@tayyll 5 жыл бұрын
Jackie Blandon That is such a good way to look at it. 👍🏼 Nursing is truly a dog eat dog necessary beast of a world and I learned that the hard yet rewarding way as a CNA. You have to "put in the time" so to speak. I worked my butt off to get to Peds and even then I had to leave that hospital a few months later because I had made plans to move to Arizona. It was so hard but I was so thankful for being picked for the position and knowing everyone wanted me to stay and was sad about me leaving! ... it's good to have goals and ideas of where you want to be because it'll help you keep pushing. I have amazing experience as a CNA but I haven't even started nursing school yet.. it just wasn't in the cards until now and that's what I'll be doing this year. *fingers crossed* so you're already half way there but it'll take some time and experience before you get into peds but it's totally possible! 😊
@DailyDoseofNursing
@DailyDoseofNursing 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that with me 😊 And I agree! Having goals literally helps so so much in pushing you to work hard towards your goals. I plan on getting my masters too so I feel like I have FOREVER TO GO LOL! But I love every second of it!

On your first video, you mentioned having a 4 hour lecture day and a 12 hour clinical day. Do either one of those days include lab time? I'm trying to get an idea of how I may be able to work my job and go to class 2 times a week. The program that I'm going for has a similar set up. Thank you!
@DailyDoseofNursing
@DailyDoseofNursing 5 жыл бұрын
So we only had skills lab in our first semester, so we had a 3 hour lecture, an 8hr clinical day and a 3 hour skills lab class, and I would go on my free time either right before my class to practice my skills or right after. :) Every semester for me so far has been a different amount of hours as well as different days for our classes. I didn't work my first semester, BUT i know many people that did and they managed to do great because of their time management skills.
@GeminiPeach81
@GeminiPeach81 5 жыл бұрын
@@DailyDoseofNursing Ok, so skills lab was on your time, but it had to be completed within that week? Cool! The fundamentals class I need states that it's 4 credit for theory, 1credit lab and 3 credits clinicals for a total of 7 credits and 21 contact. It's all so confusing. They give us very little information as to how the program is set up and I need to work to pay bills. 😢
@DailyDoseofNursing
@DailyDoseofNursing 5 жыл бұрын
No so we had an actual class for skills, but in addition to that class we had to practice to perfect our skills and for our skills check offs! It wasn't required for you to go on your off time, but it was highly recommended. So these skills include practicing your head-to-toe assessment, learning how to do a sterile dressing change, learning how to insert a foley catheter, how to insert an IV, how to properly put on a PPE, sterile gloves, and proper hand washing. Those are some of the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. But it is a lot of practicing because when we checked off our teachers evaluated us and if you didn't do well you would have to go back and perform it again and be reevaluated.

Jackie Blandon Did you go to college(university or community) prior going to nursing school? I’m in ny. I’m confused about it all lol. I’m currently going to a community college and was working towards my ADN. However the process is going a little slow so I thought I would go straight to a nursing school or a technical school where I would get straight into the field and my college advisor said if I go that route I would be an LPN and if I wanted to be an RN I have to have an actual degree. Maybe it varies state to state. But maybe it’ll be different cause I already have pre-requisites for a nursing program?
