After 10 years of classroom teaching, I decided to go for the next step in my career journey. After earning my Master's Degree in 2012 in Exceptional Student Education, I decided in 2018, to start my degree program (while teaching full time) to earn an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree.
In Aug. 2020, despite the pandemic and moving my classroom teaching to online, I'm so grateful that I pushed through to finish this next milestone in my life which gave way to my next level and opportunity to serve in the education field as an Exceptional Student Education/ESE Specialist (sometimes called Staffing Specialist). Hello there! 😀. I would first like to say I’m so happy for you accomplishing your goal of being a Staffing Specialist! 😀. Secondly, I have been teaching for 3 years now and I’m currently teaching Art/STEAM while I wrap up my remaining certification exams. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve grown so much from it! 😀. I hope all is well with you and may God continue to bless you tremendously! 😀

Hi I don’t know if you would see this but did you need to be a teacher? to work as a educational specialist. Or you can have any job related to education for example “education coordinator.”

Hi Narleysia, of course I see your comment :) For this particular county, I did not need to be a teacher to get the position (it's actually called ESE Specialist) ESE stands for Exceptional Student Education. You can have a job related to education but I believe they prefer that you have experience in classroom teaching since the position works directly with teachers, parents, and students when facilitating meetings and the ESE Specialist needs to be able to provide strategies and solutions to the IEP team. I did need a current/valid Florida Teaching License to hold the position. Hope that helps?!

So to sum up it up is this job a routine job and what are your duties?

Routine in some ways but there are many curve balls also since you are dealing with individuals when running the IEP meeting. So yeah, the duties including facilitating the IEP meetings, reading and interpreting reports, and working with school staff to meet the needs of students in the least restrictive environment.
