Hi!! So excited for you all to see this vlog since this is probably my most requested video. I know there's not very many content about how an OR nurse's day usually is, so I'm glad to share some information and transparency on this subject. Also, we've reached a milestone in this channel... happy 2K subscribers! If you're new here, welcome! Having reached this number just motivates me and inspires me to put out more quality content. Stay tuned! Much love, Bella :)

It certainly takes a team in the OR too. The circulating RN is a patient advocate. Other than, setting up, the RN helps everyone maintain sterile fields, does instrument plus sponge counts. Then does a “ hand off “ report to PACU. I now you know this but just wanted your audience to know some of your other important duties. Great job

The stark difference in how nurses on the floor(med surg, rehab, ltc, ortho, ER etc etc) are treated and burnt out.. not just by patients/their families...but by management, doctors and higher up in the hospitals.. its just sad. More power to ya! Im glad there are greener pastures for good nurses to thrive 😊

There will always be a need for dedicated OR personnel . My wife retired with 45 years in the OR, from a major teaching university with three hospitals , and a medical school . Thank you for what you do, I’m a ex navy hospital corpsman 14 yrs so I know about medicine, I just had back surgery in nov, and when they get me in the door of the operating room, the first thing I do is say hi to everyone, and ask if everyone is feeling good and in a good mood, then to turn on the radio or music to what ever will make them happy, if they are happy, then my surgery will be ok and that’s how I roll

Thanks for sharing! Love that the video is positive and you enjoy your work. Very happy for you. Hope you don't mind me pointing this out....not trying to be picky.....nails should be kept short and free of nail polish as they (nails and chipped polish) harbour germs and may tear gloves. This is important especially when one is a scrub nurse.

I've been told it is usually more of a senior nurse realm and I'm worried i won't meet coworkers that i relate with or in the same phase as me as a new nurse

Do you mind if I ask what made you want to change roles? I'm starting my ST program I hear sometimes RNs who realize direct patient care or bedside nursing isn't for them moving on or to first assist, even PA. I hear mixed views so often. Just curious 😊

@@Ashley-og9ti the reason I become RN is that I have more options in the future, I can work anywhere, CST is great job, but you can only work in OR or surgery center, not many options, standing for a long hour cases is difficult too! Plus RN pays better as well. I can scrub but get RN pay if I want to. I can still scrub! I enjoy direct pt care! 🤓

This video is so helpful. I am preparing to be an OR international nurse, so I wonder how to ask for a circulating nurse when I need sterile supplies as a scrub nurse. for example, “Can i have gloves number 7?” I’m not sure of the exact phrasing😂

Glad you found this helpful! I love this question ahaha. We just say “Can I get a (size), (type/brand of glove) glove.” For example, if I needed size 7 Biogel gloves, I just say “can I get 7 Biogels” or “can I get 7 Biogel gloves”
