OUR STORY:
Sick of covid lockdowns in Melbourne Australia, John and Kristina purchased a 50ft Jeanneau Sun Odyssey with just a few weeks sailing experience. They set sail in June 2021 and are making their way north to the Great Barrier Reef as part of their Australian Sailing Series with dreams of one day sailing the world.

You guys are doing the right thing! Do it now and do not wait. At 65y I feel like I was 29+ yesterday and wondering what the hell happened. How did I get here so fast? Do not postpone living life. A well-known saying is: Little did I know that the days that came and went were life itself. Enjoy it while you can!

So true I just sold my house and everything and bought a Motorhome and will travel with my dog through America and Mexico for awhile. Then I may buy a sailboat and travel to more countries.

Greece is just heaven. Every time you experience Greece in other corners of the country on the mainland and 6000 islands around it, you get time after time after time amazed by new incredible jaw dropping moments. Greece is 80% mountains and especially on islands like Crete and the whole mainland the mountains are vast, snow-capped with tremendous beauty. It's so amazing to experience these mountains in february-may with the mountains being snow-capped and then the very lush fields full with a tsunami of spring flowers. Definately recommended for anyone who loves hiking, mountaineering. A backpackers paradise

I’m a confirmed Grecophile. In my previous job I was lucky enough to visit most of the popular island tourist destinations throughout all regions on a regular basis, as well as some on the mainland. I even ended up living there (a year in Athens followed by 6 years on Zakynthos.) When I finally needed to return to U.K. I couldn’t let go completely so I bought an apartment in the very first place I ever visited in Greece… the island of Lefkás. I also keep a small boat there. I love it as much now as when I first set foot on it. I love all the islands and have happy memories of them all, but the lush green and sheltered waters of the Ionian islands have an extra special place in my heart.

@@KristinasTravels Hi 😊Purchasing real estate was pretty straightforward, although I was guided by the real estate agent. I just had to attend the notary office in Patras to sign the paperwork. But that was before Brexit of course, so it may have been simpler back then. One word of caution, when it comes to paying for the property, make sure you have bank documents to show the money being transferred from abroad; otherwise the tax office will assume the funds originated in Greece and will make you pay income tax on it! As far as owning it is concerned, there is an annual property tax (“ENFIA”) to be paid. If you own a property, car or boat in Greece you have to file an annual tax return (obviously stating zero income in Greece, assuming that is the case.) You won’t be taxed on anything (apart from the usual property tax and vehicle tax if you have one,) it’s just an odd formality. And you will need a tax number (“AFM.”) You really need to hire a local accountant to take care of it all, he/she will also obtain a tax number for you. The accountant fees vary but 200 euros a year is fairly typical. Yes it’s wonderful to have a bolt-hole in the Greek islands, I only wish I could spend more time there!

Interestingly, they came up with a script and the editing is interesting and obsessive. Girls You have the most beautiful and the way you relax with the company. relation to many things. I recommend you to visit Istanbul if you are nearby. This is an amazing place on the planet. This evening Istanbul, the evening Bosphorus, saunas, hammam and the like. Greece Turkey borders on each other, but visiting the city of Istanbul itself is inspiring and reveals Eastern secrets. Turkish sweets are some of the best in the world Welcome. Maybe someday we'll meet on the water.

The olive oil!!!! It just hits different in Greece! I have to say… everything over here is fresh as. I’m not sure what it’s like where you live, but in Australia.. all the food looks perfect.. like, tomatoes, cucumbers are straight, no blemishes… but in Greece, cucumbers are curly, fruit and veges look organic and far from genetically modified… and it makes a difference to the flavour of the food!!!

It's a nice reminder everyday, especially on those tough days, when you need some motivation! The flotilla sounds fun! Where are you looking at doing it? And sailing courses are a GOOD idea.. hahaha!

You'll both have to visit sometime, is it far from where you're based? Yes, Cascade is a 51ft, so 1ft longer than Tucana, but she's beamy!!! And, also on the plus side... we got to have some fun with a bow thruster for the very first time -- wow, what a pleasant experience that was haha!

Yep it’s a big boat, but fortunately this one has a bow thruster which makes handling it a lot easier then Tucana our boat back home, plus we got really lucky with the weather it was very calm which helps too!
