Join us as we embark on a delightful day trip from Munich to the enchanting city of Salzburg, Austria, using the €49 ticket!
Our adventure starts with a hearty German breakfast before boarding the train at Munich OST for a scenic 1.5-hour journey to Salzburg. Remember to carry your passports for border controls. Using the €49 ticket, we arrive and head to explore the city.
We begin at the old town, reachable by bus from the train station. A 24-hour public transport pass costs only 4 euros. Our first stop is the Makartsteg Bridge, also known as the "Love Lock Bridge," followed by Mozartplatz with its statue of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. We also visit the magnificent Salzburg Cathedral, where Mozart was baptized, and the beautiful Mirabell Gardens.
Next, we head to the Capuchin Monastery for a stunning panoramic view of Salzburg. Walking through the charming streets, we admire the beautiful European architecture and visit the Al Ihlaas Mosque for prayers.
As the sun sets, we head towards the river for a mesmerizing view and then visit the iconic Hohensalzburg Fortress. You can either hike up or take a funicular to the top. Built in 1077, the fortress stands as a symbol of the prince-bishops' power.
At the base, there's a café and souvenir shop for refreshments. In Kapitelplatz, you can see the "Sphaera" statue and play chess on a giant board while enjoying views of the fortress. We also sample a delicious Doner kebab.
After sunset, the city lights up beautifully. The electric buses here, powered by overhead cables, highlight Salzburg's commitment to green initiatives.
