Day Off DIY

Күн бұрын

Thanks for checking out my video. My name is Alec and welcome to Day Off DIY! Ive been working for months on this big reveal, and I can't wait to share it with ya.
What do we get into? You'll have to watch and see. During the video I will tell you exactly how you can win this beautiful BMW that I fixed up because...
In this video I buy a beat up BMW and restore it on a budget, just to give it to a viewer for free!
Yes, actually free, 0 dollars, zero purchase required, unlike other giveaways now a days.
I take a neglected and beat up 2006 BMW 325i with 126k miles, and fully restore it.
We restore the headlights, gut and detail the interior, extract the carpet and scrub all the plastics and leathers, we fix every oil leak including the oil filter housing, the oil pan gasket, we replace the engine mounts, control arms, the belt, tensioner, and idler pulley. We repaint the hood and polish all of the paint, with clay bar and wax. I flush every single fluid, we do a transmission service, a power steering flush with new reservoir, a brake fluid flush, an oil service with an engine flush, a drain and fill on the cooling system, and a drain and fill on the rear differential! I fixed everything I could find on this N52, and she is running amazing. I can't wait to drive her cross country and give her to the lucky winner. I hope you enjoy this build! :)

All of that for someone else just to see him/her smile. More people like you. Greetings from Czech rep. (central Europe)

The engine itself is quite well developed and trouble free. However you will more than likely be fixing the following, electric water pump and thermo at 60K, starter failure common around 80k, belt tensioner sometimes, Oil filter housing gasket (shown leaking in this vid) around 80k, oil pan gasket (not easy), and the valve cover gasket with eccentric shaft sensor seal around 80k ish but can be done in your garage if you are ok and have the patience.

Awesome vid! I really appreciate you posting this video and buying this exact car. I also have a 2006 325i which I daily. A lot has crapped on me in the last year and it’s hard to afford to fix most of it as I’m 19 and in full time college. About to hit 200k miles and so far it’s been such a great car but reliability is getting iffy now haha. Valve cover gasket has crapped on me so I’ve been topping it off from time to time now. Saving up to fix it when I can afford it. I recently fixed my dead alternator, changed all my bad coolant hoses and reservoir as it had a bad leak. Next on the list is my leaking power steering reservoir, bushings, all brakes and rotors, seat mat to remove airbag light, and fix my ac and heat as both randomly stopped working a year ago now. This video was honestly what I needed to give me hope that I can get my car running like it’s supposed to one day! Mechanically she’s not the best right now but I do detail her the best I can to make her feel nice cosmetically! Happy to have found your channel, I hope this video will help you gain more subscribers and turns out to be profitable in the long run. Thanks again!

I'm absolutely astonished. This was by far, hands down the best restoration video I have ever watched on youtube. Usually a video this length I would have to watch in at least three different parts before getting through, but I unexpectedly watched it all in one sitting. Your quality of work is impeccable and your positive attitude throughout the whole journey is so refreshing. Putting all this effort, time and $ into a car is commendable but to do it on a car you're giving away for free!? That's just downright crazy! What a satisfying transformation. I sincerely hope this beauty goes to someone who REALLY appreciates and takes care of this car. I look forward to your future videos and restoration videos. Mad respect, wonderful project, wish I could like this video 50 times for your sake. Whoever gets this is really lucky, even I wish I could win it! I just learned to wrench as well on my e46, it’s the car I grew up in and it has my love and soul, so I try to treat her well. I was captivated for the whole video and besides how cool I find it, it’s refreshing to see someone who mentiones torque specs and works neat. Great content. You remind me of M539! Man I’m not going to lie this is my first time coming across your KZfaq channel but I gotta say I love the vibes. I watched the entire thing at 4am and I didn’t even feel bored. I was entertained the entire time watching this video. Partly because I’ve been trying to restore my own BMW 323i that my dad recently passed down to me for my 19th birthday. It’s 2007 and it’s his baby that he’s had for over 15 years!!! Honestly it’s a thing of beauty and I personally want to continue to drive this for another 15yrs especially since it’s only has 140,000KM. Its been a money drain for my father so that’s why I’ve been educating myself trying to save a couple dollars when I need to repair it by just doing some DIY work and that’s how exactly I came across your video. It needs a lot of work since everything thing that could be possibly be leaking oil is literally leaking oil lol but I can’t wait until I fix everything I can so I can make my father proud. Keep up the great work man, I’m definitely going to stay tuned with the future videos and go watch the older ones you have posted! Good luck in all your future endeavors and wish you the best with your KZfaq career, you have a great heart and I can see your passion. Never doubt or give up on yourself. Take care boss!

I just bought a 2006 BMW 325i with 97km on it for 6,000 dollars and two days into driving the car it died. This is my first car that I've ever bought. At first I thought it was the battery it just wouldn't start after turning the car off one night after driving it so I paid 600$ for the battery replacement and labour, after getting it replaced the mechanic started it up and it wouldn't start turns out its the starter motor so in a week im gonna have to spend another 1000$ on that honestly I was super upset at first but watching this makes me feel like I wanna really learn about vehicles and how to really maintain a car the first couple days of driving it was so fun and im not even upset about spending whatever I have to get it nice and running I know its gonna be expensive since im not a mechanic but its the most fun car ive ever driven and im not by any means rich so i know this is going to be a nightmare lol.

ahh yes, the starters are super common on the N52, ive done A LOT of them. it requires a few unique tools to do it easily but it can still be DIYed! Hopefully I can make a video on it one day. Dont let the high repair bills scare you, the N52 is a reliable engine, but starter is very common so at least you got that out of the way. hopefully my videos can help you start DIYing on it to save some money in the future
