So exciting to walk on new areas of trail that we haven't trekked on yet. That wind was crazy. The duplex looked like some sort of UFO floating above the ground LOL. Had to be a chore to get it staked down in the wind!

Morning Taylor! Thanks for sharing what you are sending back home. Always good to lighten up when you can, but you have to keep some mementoes too! Gotta love a good guard chicken! Glad you grabbed some electrolytes! They are so important! Looked like a great Zero. Welcome to the rest of the AT!!!! I can't wait to see how your videos change moving forward. You know its windy when it kills your mic! lol Gotta be careful in winds like that, bad for widow makers. Really was a long day, especially with the time change. Crazy how your tent seems to be floating with the wind! I can't believe you are almost at 300 but just just "starting" at the same time! Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow's miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful

Alright, you getting to start a new adventure. I'm happy for you. Watch above. The most dangerous time in the woods is during high winds. Widow makers are called that for a reason. Keep having fun. Thanks for taking us along. My son and I were in winds so high one time that we had extreme starting a fire, because the kept blowing our coals out of the pit. It is easier to start a fire in a down pour. Out of thousands of fires, that is only time winds made fire difficult.

That extra hour of sunlight was a good thing today and will surely help you put those miles in going forward
@christopherhaak9824
@christopherhaak9824 3 жыл бұрын
The amount of sunlight is the same (although increasing by a couple of minutes a day). Daylight savings time is completely irrelevant for a hiker as you get up when it is light and go to bed when it is dark and that doesn't change at all with DST.

If you sleep in a shelter do people sleep with masks on? What do as far as masks on the trail? I would not think people hike with masks, but do they pull them up when passing people? Do they hang out at camp with masks?
@robopecha
@robopecha 3 жыл бұрын
i have been wondering about that too. its feels crazy these days to sleep in a room with other people. hiking without a mask, but putting one on when passing others or being around others is what i would do.
@frolege1
@frolege1 3 жыл бұрын
I think hiking in the wilderness is fine (without masks) and I would be a bit cautious sleeping in a shelter with too many people. Remember, the shelters are not completely enclosed. One hiker that is super cautious is "Feral Hikes". He will not slept in a shelter with another person because of the pandemic.
@robopecha
@robopecha 3 жыл бұрын
@@frolege1 its not completely enclosed, but the air is probably not moving that much. its easy to imagine you are breathing the same air as another person in the shelter if you stay there all night. i dont think something is happening by just passing another person on trail, but i would wear a mask out of politeness if i meet someone.
