Got this chainsaw off eBay for $410 which I know is alot but this saw was MINT. Barely any paint missing, decals still intact, description said it was unstuck. So I got it, I couldn’t find a poulan 245A or 306A that was actually worth the price, there were some going up for like $3-500 that were in junky condition with paint missing, only 120 pounds comp, ones missing parts, etc. But this one was cool because it has the Powersharp feature which sharpens the chain for you (kind of). So that made this a really rare saw, one that was in perfect condition with rare accessories. So I got it. Came fast which was good and the thing about these saws is that they have a compression release which makes starting them alot easier because if you know chainsaws, you’ll know that the old ones with no starter assists were a bear to pull. But long story short, did the standard checks, feels like it has plenty of compression, it had blue spark, it would start if fuel was put into the throat of the carburetor, and it seemed great. It looked like someone had been in there before though because the two halves of the gas tank was siliconed together and there should have been a gasket, so that was annoying getting that off but eventually I did, cleaned the carb, new fuel line, tank gasket, the standard fuel system overhaul. And when I was done it started and ran great! Only minor adjustments to the carb were needed. I will try to post more videos on this saw and others. (BTW I am starting to really like working on vintage saws (hence the recent upload of videos on them) so expect to see more content like this).
