Dude. I was an 11B in the Army for three years. You fucking slammed the nail on the head with this one! When you talked about sky lining I literally said to myself “we called it cresting” AND THEN YOU SAID CRESTING! Puts into perspective how stupidly realistic this game is 😂 Absolutely amazing work, you’ve earned a sub.

I find in Dayz that whenever I run away to break contact I get my butt handed to me. Close combat such as bumping into another player is often about who can KO the other player first, or even who wakes up first when you are both KO'd.

You are wrong about fields being a linear danger area. Fields are open danger area or called odas. Meaning there's light cover such as trees and concealment such as bushes. Cover will generally be in the treeline on either sides of the field that your in. Linear danger areas of also called ldas would be dirt roads/paths, or hardball roads. The reason it's a lda is because depending on where your located on a hardball road will determine how you approach if you take contact. If your on a lda with only fields on either side and maybe some light cover and concealment your best bet is to return fire and pop smoke grenades to mask your movement to either left or right of where you need to go. If you are on a lda and take contact from a group of buildings while you approach a town/city or whatever it is, return fire and have someone throw a smoke grenade as soon as possible. Then retreat under the concealment of smoke and flank through either the left or right side of the town. Upon taking fire your best bet is to gain fire superiority and suppress whoever has decided to engage you and your group. Edit: source of information, I learned this while I was in the army. Edit 2: cooking medic you've got a new sub everything else you stated in the videos were spot on and good information. Also cookingmedic you've earned a sub.

Awesome dude. What you said in the tactic part is actually common sense, but in a firefight with not much experience, I just forgot that. If I got fired at first, I usually just wait to find a good spot (if not dead before) and then try to find the guy, or wait for him, and shoot. But shooting back faster is definitely the best advice, I'll try that. I guess if you're low on ammo, better use them that way and run, than wait the "perfect timing" to use them on the hunter?
@cookingmedic8849

It's all about playing to your strengths. With enough practice, you'll get better at thinking on your feet. I'd say if you don't have enough ammo for a firefight, breaking contact is your best bet 😉

@@Pfonyx the longer you play, the more adept you'll get at figuring out where fire is coming from based on bullet impacts. Generally speaking, you want to return fire - but you always need to have some initiative and stay adaptable

You mixed up LDA with LODA and SODA large and small open danger area. Linear open danger areas are your roads, streams, railways and, cuts through the forest for power lines. LODA and SODA are like your forest clearings and farm land. I’m sure you were taught this by your NCOs I do think you’re correct on everything in the video. this is the one game where these real life tactics work and work well. You did a gods job of teaching how to use these tactics as well and how to employ them idk what MOS you were or are if you’re still in but if you want to do a sniper or recon guide can help with that I can help.

I'll give u the best tip ....don't ponce about the map hiding from shadows and players who could be watching u but aren't..u bump into people In this game by accident not design and spending every conscious thought about whether someone is watching from a rooftop or hiding in a doorway..when they aren't. U know when they are cos Ur either dead or hear the shots. I storm around the map like it's my private game and sure I use observational awareness but I don't let it dictate to bog me down. I see players skulking slowly round maps like they on some training simulator and if y were to put our videos side to side, I'd have been in and out of a building and gone whilst they are Poncing around checking thru windows and standing at the edge of villages towns watching for an age. Some people take these methods to extremes and where a game is fun or simulation, I guess is Ur own play choice ..but for myself I haven't the time to ponce around. Death or glory. Lol mostly death granted...but.. Lol

Not at all! I should have specified, but optics are attachments that add accuracy. (Like the mosin compensator). However, they still negatively impact dexterity. Good question!

How come when you reposition you shoot a couple shots move and then rinse and repeat? Just to throw the enemy off as to where you are located? And maybe usher them in a direction you can control and potentially flank?
@cookingmedic8849
@cookingmedic8849 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! We're basically trying to gain fire superiority. When we shoot at the enemy, we FORCE him to react - we don't want to allow him free reign to move when and where he wants to. By this logic, whoever is shooting more, is taking cover less - and has more efficiency of movement. We want to inspire a sense of omnipresence. That we are everywhere, and that we're reacting to every movement the enemy engages in. It's all a psychological game to buy us more freedom to move and control the battlefield.

@@cookingmedic8849 so last night. Me and a friend was in Muratyn. My friend being a couple houses away. When all of a sudden he got shot and killed. For some reason the zombies agro’d on me from the guy shooting. I shot one. Repositioned. Shot two more repositioned. Then began to flank making sure to check over to where I shot the zombies in case he pushed the shots. I eventually caught him as he was leaving my mates body and took him out from 200m away. Thought the shots didn’t necessarily draw him over, I definitely felt so much more in control of the fight. Il post a link to the clip. Don’t have to watch it like. I assume you may have miss spoke or the game is just wrong but 7.62x39 should have a lot less velocity and more drop (due to being a heavier round with lower muzzle velocity) than 5.56x45 and 5.45x39 (which have near identical ballistics). Generally the effective range for 7.62x39 is about 300yds and 5.56x45 500yds. If you could clarify whether this is accurate in the game as well or if the game for whatever reason gives 7.62x39 not true to reality ballistics that'd be appreciated.
@cookingmedic8849
@cookingmedic8849 2 жыл бұрын
You're correct! Presently, a 7.62 X 39 fired from a BK18 has a maximum effective range of 450 meters. The 5.56 X 45 fired from an m16 has a maximum effective range of 650 meters. This was entirely a mistake on my part, and easily avoided. My apologies.

Good observation! Pretty similar, yes. Some caveats need to be made for the sake of gameplay, but I find that what we discussed in the video works really well for me. It all boils down to gear fear. Knowing that the dude you're shooting at wants to take cover is the only reason why these techniques are viable. Beyond that, it gives new players a sense of what to do ahead of time - which is super important. If you've been playing for awhile and you're good at PvP, you probably already do what we talked about to an extent. I'd reccomend checking out the team based guide as well, this guide is designed to lay a foundation for that one. Thanks for the comment!

I concentrate on getting supplies and what I need for base builds .if im killed the gear is replaceable quick and a nice run from shore back to tissy gets me a ton of stuff I wouldn't get up north for few days scavenge and is when I come across bases or other goodies I need..so hey, a run back home here and there...otherwise I'm concentrating on my own game..I'll do a losers guide to dayz ..where I may lose more fights but I get further than u Poncing around the map hiding from shadows.

Hey, we all play for different reasons my man. Ultimately, everybody plays a game to have fun - if this guide doesn't help you with your play style, then I implore you to refine the way YOU like to play, and enjoy that. :) DayZ for me is a therapeutic experience. It's built off of a combat simulator, and in terms of survival sims, it's definitely one of the best ever made. For a now-fat, now-domesticated, once-upon-a-time combat medic, DayZ brought me back to a really beloved part of my life, and a particular skillset that I once got to practice. That's what makes the game fun for me. That playstyle isn't for everybody. Not everybody has had my particular experiences or would find slowly stalking a woodline and avoiding confrontation enjoyable. But I do, and so do many people in this comments section. I dare say I might have helped a few of them out ;)

If you care to elaborate, please do! The objective information I pull for my videos is directly from the Wiki, but the wiki can at times be very dubious. (A game's wiki can only endure so many alpha changes, afterall.) I wouldn't be surprised if a few mistakes were made throughout the video. Please tell me what can be done better! As for any of the tactical segments, as stated in the video I'm not a subject matter expert- I'm simply sharing what works for me. There's always a debate to be had with anyone's gameplay style. Again, I'd love to hear more from you so I can improve the quality of my future content. Thank you! Edit: also, depending on the validity of your comments, I'll produce a correction video and link it with a disclaimer in this one. Thank you again!
