I go over the latest details on the highly anticipated DayZ Frostline expansion that will include a winter map for consoles and pc players. With the new map called Sakhal, players can expect a chilling late winter setting with diverse terrains, from lush forests to towering mountain ranges. And here I'll be, eventually buying Tanoa again twice, after I've bought Livonia twice, and Chernarus what, 3 times now lol.... I really hoped they weren't going to touch my beloved Tanoa , it was so gorgeous and perfect the way it was, and they went ahead and touched it.... and to be fair, it looks nothing like it was I wouldn't even had thought about it until you mentioned Volcano and then that it was lol..... and I swear, if they put functioning hares on Tanoa-Frozen and not back on Chernarus and the base game, and the damn ice pick we've been missing for how long, I'm going to be pissed yet again, like usual 😅

Namalsk has been around for years, and offers infinitely more functionality and fundamental gameplay changes, like lantia, the suit, its own loot tables, custom weather conditions. If the new "snow map" is just some cosmetic change, it's pathetic that development time even went into it. Namalsk is a FREE mod, and BI are going to expect us to pay for what is basically just a cosmetic snow environment?

Super excited for this on console. Personally don't care what it costs, I'd pay full price for it all over again given DayZ has given me more play time than any game in history thus is the best value game I've ever had. I'm happy for a new product and to fund the studio.

Watch/listen to the full interview all of the creators had that went on the trip to Czech Republic. The devs confirmed that there will be new specific assets for this map like houses and buildings, however, they will of course reuse some assets because this DLC is basically to help fund the next DayZ title. They didn't show much as they said pretty much everything is still work in progress so at the moment they have just copy and pasted a lot of assets to be able to show a teaser trailer.

Very detailed snow technology exists in BI's sister company BI-Sim's VBS military simulations. Including accumilating and melting snow, snow compressed by people or vehicles, explosives causing craters in snow and even rivers dynamically freezing over and thawing.

I'm not going to lie I'm pretty disappointed that it's not a new game like Dayz2, I hope that they realize and address that those building structures have been the same buildings for like 14 years the zombies have been the same character models for 14 years it's just you look at a new game like Gray Zone and what it looks like and then you look at this and you can't help but feel like it's falling behind, it's not something to look forward to playing. $30 is pretty steep when namalsk is free. Even at $21 when on sale, that's a bit much. Now, if it included bicycles, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Q2 2014 was a decade ago and we still don't have the bicycles we were promised.

Even after all these years namalsk is still nowhere near as polished as chernarus or even livonia. Cant really compare the two. You dont need to pay full price for the new map, just wait until it goes for 5 or 10 bucks on sale, no big deal.

When you mentioned Siberian Tigers, music to my ears! I have been dreaming about that since the bears inclusion. I have been asking for a new predator, small game (hares will exist now thankfully, but also mice, rats, squirrels, birds other than chicken, etc.) and Ai survivors ranging from hostile to non hostile, to boost the PVE experience.

I'm very unpleased this being only a map and nothing more... They hyped this a lot, saying a big thing will come later this year, doing a massive event in their offices with big streamers and they deliver only a map with a bunch of add-ons I expected a migration to a new graphic engine

All this marketing, riddles and other bs... what a waste of time and resources. Maybe invest $$$ in acctual important things like fixing bugs and upgrading the game mechanics, then the game will promote itself... we have tons of beautifull modded stuff, we dont neeed more. We want the game to just work better. This game still have such glaring issues that i sometimes wonder how the hell i spent 5000h on it :D

$30 for an explanation is ridiculous. Bohemia porting existing assets AGAIN. Desperate for money? It would seem this is a DLC targeting the influx of console players (console being the reason this game got downgraded to the boring state it’s in now). Will never purchase this LAZY excuse of a release.

Desperate for money? In a world where live service dominates how can you complain about paying for it? The majority of people bought dayz for £10/20. The same people who complain about paying for this expansion probably pay £50 a month for fortnite skins
