You’re the man. Watched your updated tips and tricks video I’m fairly new at the game still and just started playing a lot and well you just blew me and my friends mind with some of this stuff you showed me. Like a plastic water bottle and duct tape makes a suppressor I wouldn’t have ever thought of that.

The actual best way to find buried loot in the game is with NVGs and Universal flashlight on a tac helmet. The dark spots show right up and reveal the stash. Very useful when stumbling upon someone’s base and you wanna double check and make sure you get everything. Plus, most good players on vanilla servers bury their best loot.

Just built a base in an industrial area and managed to set up 4 lights and it looks absolutely amazing at nighttime, wish it was easier to find ngl

It really is too bad that they don't expand the system a little more - for example, allow for "snapping" base pieces to each other and the environment rather than having to place them freestanding, or allowing players to fortify existing structures - boarding up windows inside/outside, blocking or gating existing hallways, etc. - rather than having to adapt the preexisting two structures to indoor use, which tends to look just a little goofy.

Tip for player, dont use barbwire for gates! sometimes glitch and you run trough open gate but its keep to hurt you and you will die... happend two times to me ..

Always wanted to bury a nice stash near the coast for backup or build a lil hidden base in the far north to hunt or do loot runs out of, etc. But how is the persistence on public xbox servers? Back a couple years ago when i used to play pc if you built a base/stash on public you'd be lucky if it lasted a couple days before the server crashes/restarts and wipes everything and i cba lugging a drypack full of weapons an kit all the way back to near the coast for it to be gone by the next time i spawn. Good vid aswell just stumbled across you, subbed.

I found a locked gate in a castle doorway that seemed unraidable. Are there spots you can place a fence gate in vanilla that you can't just chop down with a hatchet?

I'm new at the game and have played for a couple of weeks, solo. I ALWAYS end up carrying stuff (>100kg???) in the largest backpack, because building a base seems like SUCH a pain. When you say we need a lot of nails for example - I always pick up nails when I find them (just in case), but have never found more than one box per spawn. Same goes for the hatchet and hacksaw. So it seems like the grind for a base is really exstensive, and not worth the effort. My usual spawn contains of looting like 7-10 different towns on the way to an airfield or military area for weapons and better clothes etc, then I usually just look for a fight and die (lol). When would I make the time to spend lots of time going around looking for tools and spend all that time on a base?

Very interested in the wire mesh barriers being buildable as long as there is earth below. Info on these has been hard to find, but feels like they could be used to create some novel base features to help make them more secure - do you know how high do they stack (and can they be dismantled when stacked if you cant reach the top one)?

Is it better to build a base high up and hard to get to, or somewhere hard to find but easier to raid?

My tip for players, visite server with PURGE its event when people can raid your base, so no one can offline you becouse you know time of raid time, also make sure you know crafting good start is not straith base, but make improvized tent from stick and sack and start collect items, trader is also help :) i play Bambiland now and its for me best optiom to keep base alive and not only be offlined

The big problem is, that building is so clunky. You can build on a road.. but not on a walk way. You can build on a roof, but not everywhere in the woods. Raiding is so stupidly ez that it makes it fully useless in vanilla.

How can you build on difficult terrain? I.E. cherno island. The one place go to cut off has an edge that you can’t really build in.

I'm thinking of making A Sanctuary a Giant FAMRED base with Barrels of Water and Plots of Pumpkins Tomato and etc. With Crates of meat

Are you sure the barbed wire doesn't move with the gate? I'm on xbox and built a gate earlier and the barbed wire moves with my gate :s

dumb question can you build on that giant square tower in the middle of cherno couse in theory theres only 1 ladder going up to the roof so if you place the gate right in front of it people would slide off.

I brought two generators back to my base and they fucking despawned a week later.

I wish DayZ base building wasn't a joke. My current base is in a industrial building in Komarovo right on the shore. My server was low pop but with the other servers closing now it's always atleast medium population. Anyway currently in order to raid my base you have to go thru a minimum of 5 gates and the last gate has barb wire to catch you off guard. Well I sit inactive in my base all day long and all night long to just make sure it's not raided. I will be playing other games on my phone just sitting afk in dayz. Then when I log off boom I'm raided 1st attempt. Every damn time. It's pathetic. I'm a solo player with 5 accounts that are all fully kitted and I play them all equally in yet I'm always offline raided. #1 do you know how big of a pain it is to find 5 combo locks? #2 do you know how annoying it is having to open and close 5 gates on a daily basis? Anytime I go offline I have to lock them all. Plus I'm a solo player and these are groups of people raiding me. The other day 3 people tried online raiding me. I killed 2 and let the 3rd one live even tho he was hurt badly. I dont even have anything good in my base everything good is on my 5 accounts in yet these people love coming to take my food, ammo, extra meds, low tier back up weapons when I'm offline. I would love to see the absolute mountain of gear they have hoarded away in addition to the stuff they have taken away from me.

So its pointless building a base on a public server? Might aswell just hide crates :(
