The DayZ Devs have released 2024's Roadmap, going over Dynamic Ambient Sounds and Audio Enhancements, New Exotic Long-Range Rifle, Cosmetic Customization Options, Reworked Sounds for Firearms and Actions, Enriched Wildlife Variety, Enhanced Survival Mechanics, New Medical Challenges and Mechanics, Modders get an Improved Terrain Tool and The Major Update will be in Autumn.

Make them drop the nitrado monoply. Console can support mods and semi-custom maps. We just need more control over servers, like being able to install plugins that work on the server-side and can affect the gameplay client-side seamlessly. And that can only happen if we host on our own hardware. They also first need to fix the de-sync issues.

Consoles are a money grabbing system. My 2021 laptop has more power than the newest Consoles, and I can still upgrade it dor a feaction of the cost. And I dont have to pay to play online, and have 100s of more quality games. Consoles are the biggest scam.

save some money and just get a $800 pre build it will run fine. I'm not rich and just have a decent job I just saved money overtime and got a PC a feew years back. DayZ wasn't made for console it will never be good man.

They're working on them... we already have different types of zombies that have different properties... like more HP or damage... or awareness The new AI is very WIP and maybe will come this year

@@tw0crows74No way bro. You would run from a horde, get indoors, but you dont have a key or lockpick to lock the door behind you, they burst right in and eat you, GG. I know you dont need a key to lock doors from the inside IRL but lets be real, they arent going to do that to doors.

My guess is the new exotic rifle will be in 338. lapua magnum. Not as comically strong as 50. BMG while still being stronger than 7.62x51 NATO and actually used by precision snipers (50BMG isn't really a sniper round)

They need to walk a fine line with music sounds. Building tension is a neat idea, but music too loud or present will sacrifice the realistic immersion of the game

This game doesn't need music. What i needs is to preserve that felling when you first play the game. You just wander around, exploring and finding awesome views, the sound of the wind a creaking trees. After those few hours you learn there is an in-game map, after that you learn how the loot spawning works, you learn how to melee. After that you are basically inmortal and keep loot farming on the same place over and over. I have optimized the fun out of the game.

It's technically still there, just not accessible through the game settings, you need to edit your game's draw distance via the files..... only issue, there's still a hard coded limit set via the server config, so if you play official or a community server that hasn't upped them to allow your side to override, changing to a max of 5k meters will still show on those "unchanged" servers as the vanilla max regardless of your file changes, but there's plenty of community servers that do bump theirs up to allow for greater sight distance..... honestly, it should've never been changed from the "norm" or the way it was in Arma, but I assume they wanted everyone to see the same distance for balance, still doesn't look realistic, especially if you fly a lot like myself, looks even worse in the air 😅

if you play servers with the expansion mod you can set draw and view distance to 3.6km, but theres a reason they wont do it, it halves fps, it would require much more work to lods

@@the_cleaner you mean low FPS? I ran dayz with 100+ average fps when I had an i7 6700k and RTX2070. I'm now on an i5 13600k and RTX4070... If you have a PC that is not as old as dayz is, you'll be fine with increased render distance... the game uses LOD's like any other game does, so the added render distance isn't as impactful as you might think..

Adding birds will be huge, I hope they take inspiration from crows in Hunt Showdown. It would make the game more engaging, tense and easier to track people, more pvp and more fun.

HuntShowdown is a PvP game mainly. It would be just incredibly annoying on DayZ. We thrive for inmersion and atmosphere, not arcade mechanics.

Considering the experimental update that Arma Reforger received, I expect good things from the AI. Arma Reforger has one of the best AI I have seen in a combat game.

Regarding animals attacking infected it really bugged me how they removed that, even the wiki said ‘crafty survivors can lure wolves into towns to clear out infected’ when I first started playing I used to walk into tisy and just see an army of wolves and infected attacking eachother (as they should imo) but now it’s like they have an alliance to work against anyone non-infected

I want more animals in the forest, the forests seem so empty now. More things to craft to encourage creativity. This game needs more life, more energy, more things to entertain you, more transportation methods, bases need to be redone, and many other things to keep you busy in the game, but at the same time be a fun process. The game must keep the same line of survival, and be a hard survival game, a complex game with a considerable amount of work required to get items to survive. I think this game must be inspired by Rust with some elements (electricity, construction of bases, boats, monuments on the water, creativity in the construction of bases, the game needs seasons with real snow and frozen temperature on the same map)

Best suggestion I have for DayZ survival mechanics is actually give us a reason to want our character to live beyond loot. How many people have stashed rheir loot, killed their character when low health or sick just to Respawn and go back for the loot? Actually give us some stat of time alive at least, and perhaps allow us to increase stats like stamina and strength based on how long thr character has been alive. Getting killed means we'd lose those stats as the character is dead and we'd have to start all over again. That would add so much to what DayZ is about.

I've been in servers that suicide would despawn the corpse very quickly. And I wonder how hard would be to "make disapear" a corpse just for specific (same) player..?

The roadmap of this game has changed so drastically, I remember the one from back in 2015 where just that year alone they promised aerial vehicles and animal companion's. Assume them 2 features are cancelled now.

Arma Reforger has subtle ambient music that plays and slowly builds tension when you've been wandering around for a while or driving around without any combat, and it stops immediately when you enter combat. Something similar to this in DayZ would be cool and I think that's what the ambient music will most likely be. Also, the music that plays in Arma reminds me of some ambient fantasy movie soundtrack or something like that and it fits right in with game. I have no doubt that DayZ's music will also fit right in.

anyone else agree that in dayZ, weapon sounds, sound to close when fired, using your ears to inform your vision, your eyes look at warehouse expecting the targets to be in front of them, however it's actually a quite a ways behind it, the sound ranges defo need work and if ever possible the above and below avoid needs work to, hard to tell which floors people are on.

Should only be in zones. If it's on the whole map I'd want to turn it off or stop playing. It can be immersion breaking. When I go out in the woods I don't hear music, nobody does, that's realistic.

One way or another snow is coming to consoles, sit tight. In my view they should drop the old consoles too at this point, the performance on them is beyond terrible, and the majority market share is now with PS5 and the Series X and S. The series S is wildly cheap, seen them for as little at $180 in last few months, and remember that includes a $40 controller. It also plays significantly better on the Series S than old consoles, it's not even close, so anyone who says they can't afford to update probably shouldn't be gaming at all because they clearly need more work hours for money.

I would assume the music in the game would be akin to the OSTs that play on Namalsk. Some play when the server time reaches morning, afternoon, night etc, other may play when u get to a specific area on the map.

As for the wildlife I remember that the og roadmap for version 1.0 had animals in it such as the fox, Mufflon, hedgehog, birds (goose I believe)and rabbits (which are in the game but are not walking around obviously)

I wonder if the in game ambient music is more like Namalsk. The tension increases when approaching cities, strange sound effects like kids playing on a playground…just that general creepiness it lends

1:07 it's probably going to be like on Namalsk where when you enter the Sebjan mine area you get this spooky music that builds up tention or when you stroll the vast forests somewhat comforting, neutral music is played.

Another great video, WOBO sir 👍🏻 My guesses (based on subtle wording the devs have dropped) in addition to new animal and weapon sounds would be either: 1) a couple new official maps, OR 2) a new official map + increased ease for map modification (& allowing console modding) OR 3) a new map AND a reworked/updated game engine Plus, they kind of hinted at something beyond the game…could we see a tv show or movie or something in the DayZ world with The Yellow King and Hannah?!?!

Seeing you test the ammo types bullet drop reminded me of surviving waves of zombies in time splitters 2. Is there a server that let you do that? I loved wave survival as a simple time waster to unwind, it was fun in left 4 dead as well.

Just speculation but I think a French FR-F2 would count as an exotic rifle and it fits the game's currently roster of guns I think.

When it comes to exotic rifle I think of a rifle not necessarily the caliber. IE a WA2000, even though it has no basis in dayz. But it could give in line with a new caliber.

I'm sure Sumrak insisted on adding ambient music. Ambient complemented the dayz mod perfectly and works great on Namalsk. It's amazing that they took so long to add it.

Yes . Totally agree although if you are on pc there is a mod you can search for on dzsa called legacy-sounds. Puts the old dayz arma mod music in as well as zed sounds from the mod

The ambient sounds will just be more environmental sounds like birds, weather wtc. The rifle I think will just be a big rifle like a 50 cal or 338

I’m excited for the sound changes. I love detective work in this game. Conversing amongst your group about how far, what weapon, and in what terrain a shot was fired from to triangulate a players location and threat level is one of my favorite parts of the game. It builds tension and makes you feel like a hunter tracking pray.

I hope they don't add annoying music you can't turn off. I wish they would focus on the many bugs , new and old. Was on a 5 month break from dayz and came back just to see the same old bugs along with new bugs. BUT no let's add music, masks, change game stats, and add an exotic rifle that also can disappear below the map lol.

That's why I stopped playing around 5 months ago due to my gun disappearing. BUT what about all the bugs I have encountered since starting back playing around 2 weeks ago. Character freezing while fighting Z's. Inventory freezing sometimes and having to restart. Etc etc . The list goes on, and I've started playing dayz about 4 years ago and still see problems that should be addressed before new masks, special events, etc. Love the game. it just needs to be permanently fixed. Then, worry about adding content

Mr.Wobo, when I think of exotic rifles, I think of rifles that are super unique such as the 4 Bore rifle, or a Nitro Express. Personally, I just want them to let us use the handgun scope on the repeater carbine

I want them to make it so you don’t spawn being able to see stats but you can find gear that changes your HUD such as a helmet that can show a permanent compass along with more detailed stats and can change based on the durability.

As for what the long range rifle im probably thinking its gonna be a western rifle probably especially if its a new calibre just based on the majority of new guns that have been added to the game in the past (new as in not previously teased or removed by the engine swap). If its for an existing round I think its gonna probably be an M24 or something else in .308 or very unlikely but something in 7.62x54r like the SV98 as that calibre only has two guns in it and has had nothing new in a very long time time. I doubt a .50 rifle but if it was the AS50 seems like it would be a no brainer as even after it was removed from the official mod its still one of those guns you hear and think dayz sniping freshies in cherno or electro and they did recently add the classic DMR.

I heard they are eventually going to add COV-19 into it, one of the symptoms is that you don't have any symptoms, and there's an injector that makes you immune, but may permanently lower your stamina via cardiac damage and/or endothelial injury.
