just recently found out the saying is not " I'm your huckleberry" but is actually "I'm your huckle bearer". Huckle is the carrying handle on a coffin so basically he would gladly carry your casket. Great vlog as usual. Thanks for taking me places I may never see in my lifetime. Oh and Happy Belated Birthday Jah. A true lady's man.
@taleewhakker2 жыл бұрын
That is correct. However, Val Kilmer himself has stated that the script for Tombstone said "Huckleberry."
@HonRevPTB2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true, a hucklebearer is synonymous with a pallbearer, so essentially what he is saying is I'll take you to your grave!!! Kevin Jarrer the man that wrote the script did such an incredible job with using colloquialisms and the parlance of the time the script was so gravid with knowledge of that period it was unbelievable!!!!!!! For instance when Doc was egging Ike on to get him to say he cheated and Ike wouldn't say it that was because the law at the time was if you called somebody a cheat they had the right to shoot you! The work that Jarrer did on that screenplay was absolutely unbelievable!!!!!!! Another thing was when they were speaking in Latin, if you translate it, people would whine and say it's racist, but they have no idea what the hell they're talking about or what the inference means that Doc makes in Latin!!!!!!! They have videos on KZfaq of the translation, but they're not correct, they won't say what was actually said!!!!!!!

Another reason he may be buried in Georgia. I hiked up that hill to his gravesite only to find a plague saying he was buried somewhere in that cemetery. It is a possibly reason that they were wary of grave robbers. But it is worth the hike up to see it.

His resting place is Linnwood with a gate going around it
@JarrodJPerrott2 жыл бұрын
I've been to his grave in Glenwood Springs which I believe is his true resting place. He was allegedly destitute when he died and is buried somewhere on the grounds of Linwood Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Though they do have a cenotaph to him there. If you've ever been to that cemetery, you will know that you cannot access it by road. It's up on a hill which would have been very difficult for his father to access by wagon. There are records of Holliday's burial at Linwood, but none that his father exhumed his body and brought it back to Griffin, GA. Also, I find it hard to believe his estranged father would care enough to bring him back to GA to be buried next to him in two unmarked graves. My guess is Griffin, GA wanted to lay claim to his grave for tourism, as you mentioned. But who really knows?

If you are interested, I recommend you read the trilogy of books by Victoria Wilcox about Doc Holliday or some of her you tube interviews. You will find the stories of some of what you say. Did he go to Dallas for tuberculosis or just to save his health from the law? Dallas is very hot & humid in the summer. The main reasons he is suspected to be buried at that spot. Doc's relationship to Margaret Mitchell and Gone With the Wind. There are so many surprising back stories to Doc Holiday's life.

I've spent many years reading everything I could find on the legends of the old west. I been to many graveside also. True, many legends seem to have multiple sites. The University of Nebraska did some major research on Doc, and Billy the kid. I have 2 books that are extremely hard to find anywhere. It tells their story. Based on public record, and testimony in court, and eyewitnesses. These books have who, and where the info came from. Literally a thousand sources in Billy's book alone. I call them the Bible of Doc and Kid. True. Doc was just a killer. Deadly with a pistol or a knife. He was sent to dentist school because there was reason to believe he shot 3 black kids while they were fishing on Holliday land. He did come from a wealthy family. He had many issues with the law. Spent alot of time in court rooms. And his girlfriend "big nose Kate" was in fact a working woman. She later died in a gunfight with another working girl. I believe Doc is buried in Colorado. I been to that grave. It's quite the hike. But worth it. I don't find any reference to his family uprooting him and bringing him to GA. That would've been big news in the day, and train tickets issued or freight bills to haul him home would exist. But it doesn't mean it didn't happen. But I think not. Doc's death was well documented. Billy, that's a whole different can of worms. It sure is fun digging into things like these two.
@randyhules33692 жыл бұрын
I've also read that the grave all over the internet with the black gate around it may not actually be his grave. I seen a video that his grave may actually be in another section with a very odd small shaped stone that isn't even a headstone with no writing. It almost just looks like a basic square stone as if nobody cared for him, and they did that out of privacy from people who didn't like him. I too believe this place is not his grave, because if he was brought here, what was with the huge marked site in Glenwood? Doesn't make sense.

One would think bringing Doc’s body back (presumably by train) to Georgia that there would have been witnesses to this event or even reinternment records. He’s most likely still in Colorado.

That's probably how the story of him coming to Griffin would have originated... wouldn't you think?
