They have them since at least the 90s. Been listening to J rock since that years, and slowly moving closer towards Japanese metal scene in mid 2000s. Some band like Dir en grey actually combine both rock & metal elements.

@mysticstrider Assuming you don't care where it's from, there's also Spiritbox, Abnormality, Cerebral Bore, Arch Enemy, The Agonist, Sigh, Arkona, Jinjer, In This Moment, Otep, and Necronomidol. Babymetal and Nightwish I know have also done this, but it's pretty rare for both of them (and with Nightwish it's specifically the song Yours Is And Empty Hope).

I miss them so much!! But their stuff became very bland towards the end and it seemed like the band wasn't too happy with the direction they were headed. I hope Maiko finds a new with a heavier sound. She's one of the best japanese female vocalists out there.

@@sjnix7044 Black star i find to be a decent J-pop song, you have to remember each album is a different genre from each other, and they like to throw curveballs. though admittadlly Black star is my least Favorite song on FA, I don't think its bad. kinda a bummer a studio version of "STEP" does not exist though

psyked111 Lived in Japan 1 year, NEVER EVER had even one uncomfortable situation with them, You may never be Japanese but I actually felt like superstar! They all try to make you feel welcome! Fuck the surveys! Go and experience yourself! If you will be nice to them, they will be nice to you! I was welcomed warmer than by most of my friends or relatives!

This one's an in between: you have heavy metal guitar riffs and drums but the vocals are harsh and clean - more towards extreme.
