a bit of a backstory:
it's been around 3 years since Sunset helped the Mane 6 defeat the Dazzlings in the Battle of the Bands. She found more portals to Equestria, hence her opening the portal in the middle of their concert- but it seems they've found another way to feed off the negative energy of others in Starswirls music festival. Yes, it c o u l d be vocal processing, but a girl can dream.
