Ocean studios themselves were not the ones who decided what to censor. Their role was to provide the voice acting and all. AB Group/Westwood were the ones who were in charge of this dub of Dragon Ball Z and they were generally less lenient on visual edits than Saban was in the earlier dub which invovled Ocean studios.

Is there really a point of an Ocean dub? This show has so many dubs and re-edits in both original anime and in dub form it's ridiculous and confusing to keep track of. What happened to the days of just ONE English dub? That's all we need. The fact we have so many is just useless and silly. After Ocean's run with the first two seasons that should have been it. Funimation took over and that's all there should have been as far as dubs. No need for a Blue Water dub, a Singapore dub, AB Groupe dub, WHATEVER DUB OF THE SHOW IN ENGLISH IS OUT THERE and if countries couldn't get the rights to the Ocean/Funimation's dub, OH WELL. Funimation then screwed up giving us the remastered edition because it meant going through the show again. All they should have did was redo the first 52 episodes and that's it. No need to re-edit their own stuff because it was MOSTLY uncut. Then you had KAI come about and be a THIRD version of the show they'd give us as they would dub it too. UGH. Ocean on the other hand did not need to come back to do anything else with the show after their original work on it in the 1990s, especially when they'd skipped a lot of episodes in the original DBZ form to catch up with Funimation and frankly, their work was inferior and rushed. And what would be the point in a DBZ Kai dub from them anyway? Unless you adored those voice actors, one could easily just stick with the Funimation version and be happy. That's one less DBZ dub we need to add to the cluster there is already with the Ocean/Funimation dub, the Ocean dub minus many Frieza/Namek episodes, Funimation's remastered and DBZ Kai dub. That's FOUR English dubs of the same damn show we have here. -_-

@@devontehuntley6274 you wrote a LOT of useless shit. Ocean Dub was the original English dub, based in Canada. FUNIMATION is based in America. Ocean got the rights back for Z if I am not mistaken, and since it's Canadian, in CANADA where we HAVE to prioritize CANADIAN programming, they went back to Ocean when the opportunity rose. Ocean came back, replaced FUNIMATION after their small little run in Canada, then it proceeded to be FUNIMATION for reruns on TV. Ocean Dub was required for law. Same reason other dubs exist. They might require THEIR own country to be a priority for being viewed by their audience. There's really no reason for dub companies to exist, with your useless drivel. Should just be Japanese, and we just read subtitles. Fuck everyone else, right? Also different studios get the rights to different Anime, FUNIMATION is a studio that doesn't have the best voices, recycles a lot and they are usually shit tier. Other Studios offer raw talent, more gifted voices and they usually fit far better than what FUNIMATION can provide. Ocean Dub is superior to the FUNIMATION Dragonball dub in many MANY ways. So people want to see it. Ever since Kirby, the 3rd Goku voice in Ocean Dub DBZ, passed away it's unknown if we will ever see a DBS Ocean version or DBZ Kai version. Kirby was slated to be Goku Black in the Dragonball Super Eng dub but Sean went full diva and forced it so he would remain as Goku Black and Goku. But Chris let the better Vegeta voice play Copy Vegeta.

I feel bad for you. Ocean's dub started off rocky with the edits and while some of the voices were good they were worse when they came back to redub the show in the Trunks era. It was not good. Funimation handled the show better and had the better actors. Brian Drummond's voice worked good for Vegeta when he was a villain but not as a good guy, whereas Chris had the better progression and voice that worked for the good and bad sides of Vegeta. Appreciate it. And again if a country can't get rights to another country's dub of the same language, then oh well. We don't need different English dubs. That's just confusing. And why was Canada even reruning Funimation's dub when they had their own dub, unless you mean the portion that they skipped over which means yeah they would need the other dub to fill in the gaps. But screw what you are saying. I'm not saying dub companies shouldn't exist because I don't want to have to read only subtitles but we don't need multiple dubs of the same language made. We only need one. So Ocean shouldn't have bothered if they couldn't get more of Funimation's dub to air. All they did was complicate things with inferior work and their own version of Kai would be utterly useless. Just stick with Funimation's work especially when it's easily accessible for streaming as it would be catching a show of Canada on TV. This isn't the 1990s and early 2000s where your people just don't have any access to Funimation's dub on the spot so they just HAVE to resort to making their own dub for Canadians to tune into to see it continue. Those days are done. Canada speaks the same language and the country is no different from the United States. We can share the Funimation dub when it's handled better and far from Odex quality work for example and it being the popular version for the Western audience and fan base anyway. We don't need the steady competition. -_-

It might blow your mind, but some people don't share the same sentiment as you and like the ocean dub better. It was also where the over 9k meme came from. It is what it is. What's it to you if Canadians make their own version? Its no skin off your back. Let them do what they want. If there is demand for it, let it be so. "Canada speaks the same language and the country is no different from the United States" Canadians have always spoke the same language, and I would argue our countries are different in various ways. Some actually might take offensive to that statement, but I will let it pass as ignorance. We are more similar then we are different. How about that? That being said I personally don't like Kai. @@fires2398 I literally just wrote two big ass comments addressing the different dubs by both Funimation and Ocean, and technically the Ocean dub is a Funimation dub since Funimation handled the production of it from Texas. When they couldn't get the rights to use those original actors, they did their own in house dub. So here we have multiple different Funimation dubs of one damn show that is not needed. As for Canada not needing their own dub, they do not. They are right next door to us and have a similar culture and land so we did not need to have different dubs. Just a waste of a dub since the U.S. had the rights to the original show when it was made in Canada so why could they just not use our dub continuation. I do not care for Kai either, but it was a good way to bring back a classic show like DBZ in some form and it sparked a new interest in the franchise and lead to new shows being made as of the last dozen of years.

@@animegamerjace9851 it gives us a glimpse of what never was(unless you include the unreleased dub of Kai) They also did flashbacks of piccolo and nails fusion, dendes death, goku’s escape from namek and a re-dub of goku vs nappa and vegeta just to name a few off the top of my head.
