Some of your information is not accurate at all on the AC system the light will not turn on unless it's running because the stator has to be creating power in order for the lights to work so if you kick over your scooter and your headlights turn on and flicker it's an AC system and also your light will be very dim on idle and when you rev up your engine the light will increase in brightness also a Telltale sign that you are running an AC CDI also will run without a battery because it creates its own electricity to run Battery is for lights and other options alarm radio what have you they use the same concept on Dragsters that's why they don't have to have a battery or starter they started externally and once it's running it doesn't turn off unless you kill the fuel

I had switched my stock for the orange CDI on my Peace Sports scooter about a year ago and when I hold the ignition and it starts right up with no hesitation. Not sure how long these last though, as it does take slightly longer to start up now. But it could be my battery, which I may need to replace soon. Edit 4/09/19: My orange CDI Still going strong, and had to install a bigger battery since I had a big bore kit installed a few months ago. I also recently bought the blue CDI, seems to not start my scooter as easily as my orange one, but I seem to get slightly better acceleration on the blue one. I'll have to see how long it holds up though.

They say your headlights only come on when the bike is running if its ac, my headlights come on when I turn the key. There dim and brighten up when I start the bike. I replaced my cdi with a ac cdi and haven't had any issues. Its identical to the stock.

Fast forward to 2020...They are all half that price. My scooter is brand new 2020 BMS Prestige 150 and it has a DC CDI.

That blue CDI had made my 1st gear to feel like a 3rd gear. But I am of course; using a 3 electrode spark plug to a 93 octane gasoline. I weigh at 198 lbs on this 155 lbs 125cc bike. I believe that I was reaching 25 mph at a 1 second acceleration. ... Sigh, this strong @$$ CDI had destroyed my cheap ass plastic gas cap LOL;;; It was asking for too much air suction at a time.

scooters have rectifier maaaan,so curent from alternator goes trough rectifier,then from rectifier in to electric system vhich is DC in every scooter,so CDI Must be Dc in every scooter...
