Mason Alexander Park was an absolutely amazing choice for Desire. Which so sharply contrasts with how goofy a person they are in real life. They always look like an IT nerd. And Tom Sturridge nails it as the imposing, dark, prince of dreams. Which again is so different from how he looks in real life, because in most photos he looks like he's waking up from a blackout drunk wondering why he's handcuffed to the bathroom sink and where did ostrich come from?

I felt pretty meh about Lucifer casting. Wanted something in between what they gave us, and the Lucifer TV show. Especially considering the Lucifer TV show was based on the comic of Lucifer after his encounter with Dream. All the other castings were great though

One of the most impactful things on rereading this series is noticing all the symbolism. The series The Doll's House focusing on Desire's plot refers literally to Unity's doll house that represents her lost youth, but symbolically it refers to the disagreement between Desire, who believes mortals are their playthings - their dolls, and Dream who understands that the Endless serve the living. And Desire's sanctuary is a literal figure of them, a doll-shaped doll's house in which Desire resides. The plaything who believes themself to be the player.

The layers are mind boggling, and that is because you didn't even touch on the significance of Dream and Desire's concept in this world for this particular scene. The Endless are so much more than simple personification of their respective names.

@@carla3693 The endless are not personifications of their names/roles they ARE those things and also have some aspect of the opposite role Destiny/Free will, Death/Life, Dream/Reality, Destruction/Creation, Desire/Asceticism, Despair/Hope and Delerium/Clarity.

I hope the nail Delirium... her persona is so important, simple but at the same time complex, more so when you consider that her siblings that are personification of concepts for some reason don't see how significant her ramblings truly are, and just take it for granted most of the time.

People need to know there's a HUGE gap in power between the oldest 3 Destiny, Death, and Dream. And everyone else, Destiny is by far more powerful than all of them. Death is the next most powerful, and Dream is the 3rd most powerful. Just imagine how powerful their mother and father are in Darkness and Time.

I'd argue it's a toss up between Death and Destiny on who's more powerful. For example Death claimed an entire creation before the current one. But to illustrate how much stronger Death, Dream and Destiny are, in Overture, Dream literally remade creation from people's memories of it (which is why he was weakened enough to be captured, since overture takes place immediately before the original Sandman book)

Desire manipulated events to get Dream to commit familicide (killing a member of ur family), so The Three (Madian, Mother, and Crone) would punish him by execution. I don't think so. At least not directly. Destiny definitely knew what was happening because it's written in his book, but I don't believe Death could enter Desire's Realm without his knowledge or consent. And since neither Dream nor Desire died here, Death wouldn't have a foothold.

Interestingly, that version of Lucifer was spun off from this universe. Not to spoil anything but the Lucifer we saw in Sandman eventually travels to LA. I adore Lucifer but the series took a lot of liberties from the comics it's based on.

You know, I far prefer the Endless to the Chaos Gods of Warhammer 40k. In essence, they represent the same thing. But the chaos Gods are so... one dimensional. So unpersonable. The Endless are actual characters with flaws, virtues, personal agendas, and a work to do.

If you fall asleep before astral projection while using the gateway tapes, you will have quite wild lucid dreams. In one I got to speak to my deceased grandmother(waking up only to realize she's gone was like the day it happened) while in another I believe I met this Dream the Endless. Somewhere between dreaming and projection, I get out of my recliner while my body is sti sleeping. I see my house and family going about their business. I look to my right and I see a man. Before he can speak, I will him to go away and he dissipated into black clouds befote vanishing completely. I then get up out of my chair again(same state) as if I rewound a video and there he is again, this time in the hallway. He speaks to someone who looks like a deranged version of my oldest son and says, "this one is like us, we can't have him fooling with our food supply." (Direct qoute from the "dream") He then pokes me on my forehead, between the eyes and I jolted awake back into waking reality. Since that experience, I have felt a pressure in the spot where he poked me.

Destroy n'est pas dans l'histoire il prend son bag sac il part ...il apparait de temps à autre...sandman meurt pour une naissance ou d'un oublie... ---------------------------------------------------------------- donc ce personnage mue en prodige , l'auteur explique que les personnages ne sont pas tant leur nom que ce qu'ils sont des sortes de dieux ou ...j'ai oublié comment il l'explique faudrait que je le lise dans les premier livres, je ne comprenais pas vraiment c'est ce que je me rapelle du sentiment... relire et laisser faire mon questionnement en lisant ...j'ai donc acheter la collection il a eu des problèmes avec les éditeurs je l'ai ai fait livré chez moi...quel bonheur...j'aimais plus l'histoire que le mec qui tramais sa vie en fonction de ce qu'il n'aura jamais... depuis je ne pouvais plus relire ma collection...j'étais trop proche...

The actor for Dream was perfect in the first episode. But in episodes like this, I dont think he hit the mark. In these episodes, he portraited Dream in a too emotional way. Dream is not like this. He's always serious. Never shows any emotion at all. You only note when he's mad because one of his eyes light up. Hope they fixed this for the next season.

It was renewed for season 2. Netflix also picked up a spin off series called Dead Boy Detectives that will premiere next week. The actress who plays death will appear in the spinoff , she was shown in the trailer.
