I really appreciate your simple, up close and detailed explanation. I also appreciate not calling all of us as stupid consumers for buying a Dyson. I fixed my Dyson in 15 minutes or so. Thank you

The whole Cleaner Head was so gunked up (it is for my office and I have had it several years) and had stopped spinning I decided to just order a new Cleaner Head Assembly. This video was very helpful. While it took me a couple of days to make the change, taking notes on disassembly then repeating in reverse order for assembly, once I was done I'm sure that I could have done it again in less than an hour. The vacuum works fine now although I can't understand why I always end up with an extra screw.

Great video. Much better workflow than the bodge job I did to reinstall the brush bar belt tensioner tonight. Will reference this video again when I order a replacement head assembly! Thanks!

Excellent, just replaced the cleaner head using this video. I had to replace the long tube as it broke in half while removing it, I suspect this was the issue but replaced the cleaner head anyways.

Wow!! I am so use to changing the belt on all my other vaccums. This is so detailed. My beater brush isnt rotating and I am sure I cannot check the belt by myself after looking at this video. I guess I will have to call Dyson and take to service center. Wont buy another one of these due to lack of ease to change a simple belt.
@c5back910 жыл бұрын
The service center wasn't much help to me. I wasted 90 minutes speaking with them and another $58 on filters they said needed to be replaced. Mine still won't run. I'm very disappointed!!

The DC28 was prone to problems like these. Most Dysons don't have brush bar issues like these.

Great Video!! Your so detailed and that is very much appreciated. I was just going to clean the rollers. I’m saving this video for future reference. A couple of years ago I could've sworn some parts were no longer available. It's good to see they are. Thank you too for not trash-talking the Dyson and calling us all fools and idiots. My old gal is over 20 years old and has been A beast when it comes to cleaning pet hair. 👍 I’m hoping to get A few more good years. Thanks again

Great instructional video. But I never knew till now how involved it was to replace simple parts on this vacuum. I cannot purchase another Dyson product. I've had a Hoover for 20 years which I replaced with the DC28; what a mistake that was. All that needed was an occasional belt replacement that wasn't as involved as removing the motor from a car.

This is why I hate repairing dyson vacuums. They make them so much more complex then they should be. They are a pain to take apart and assembled.

Dyson fooled many people with their junk products. And this clearly is one for them. Good luck on trying to change the belt or the brush roller.
@stvfor6 жыл бұрын
Actually, watching this made me realize that due to the amount of hair that was never cleaned out of our daughter's vacuum, it froze the clutch mechanism. The belt was in perfect shape and would never need to be replaced. The problem is when you have all that hair constantly slowing down the beater bar, eventually something breaks on the other end.
@brybo863 жыл бұрын
My dc28 started smoking burnt rubber still has good suction. I believe the belt is broken. Can I follow this video to replace it? How does the belt come off the roller? Video only shows how it comes off the geared motor connection.

I have a DC28 that won't run... when switching on it runs for two minutes, then it stops. Have called Dyson three times spending more ten thirty minutes each time speaking to them. The lovely folks there seem to only wish to sell me additional filters. I ordered their replacement filters at the princely sum of $58, and waited for them to arrive. It took only four weeks and I put them in. The dreaded thing still won't run. Luckily I have an electrolux and eureka to fall back on. Both are 40 years old and still run fine. Dyson has been quite a big disappointment.

Is there a blockage anywhere in the piping of the vacuum? Usually if the vacuum gets too hot, the unit will shut itself down to prevent a burnout.
@mansurjiwani39243 жыл бұрын
My only problem is I cannot push the “Foot Peddle” to lower the vacuum and for the rollers to start moving. What’s is the “Trick”?

All went well until I went to try it out. The air muscle is not keeping the head against the carpet. This caused me to think that the short & long tubes were connected to the wrong nipples on the cleaning head. I went back to look at the video, but the view is obscured by a hand. Does the tube going to the air muscle (the short one) connect to the nipple on the top or the one on the bottom? By the top nipple, I mean the one closest to the top in this video. The top one has a thicker nipple, so I assumed it is the one that connects to the short tube. Update: I took the tubes out of the tube-stays on the clutch cover and everything works perfectly. Apparently the stays were pinching the tubes shut.

This design makes it ridiculously complex just to change out a worn out brush belt. Horrible design Dyson :(
@TheSingularitarian4 жыл бұрын
flowsource1 That's preposterous. Most other brands aren't good enough to bother with repairing. Just trash them and get a new one. This is many steps and it might take an hour, but you get another decade out of your expensive vacuum cleaner.
@RyanSellman13 жыл бұрын
@@TheSingularitarian Yeah but seriously, having to replace the entire cleaner head due to the belt breaking or the brushroll wearing out is bullshit. The DC27 and it's ancestor, the DC17, is much more simpler and better with belt and brush replacements.
@louie24703 жыл бұрын
how do you remove the brush bar? ? the owners manual stated you use a coin to turn counter clockwise on the slot on side of the brush bar. There is no slot. Please help.

Do you sell the parts? Links to the listings would be swell. Assuming Dyson is still supporting this vacuum 9 years later, lol.

I have this vacuum, the beater brush spins but all indicator lights seep, med, short and bare are blinking and i can't get the vacuum to change. And the beater brush is missing almost all of its red grippy things. Is it possible to just replace the beater brush and not the whole unit? I can live with the beater constantly moving.

@BigMobe3 жыл бұрын
@@RyanSellman1 Since the maintenance I could normally do on any other vacuum has to be done by a professional on the DC28 it's the last Dyson I will buy. I don't know what they were thinking putting a consumable part behind so much trash. Even novice engineers know better.
@RyanSellman13 жыл бұрын
@@BigMobe The Ball uprights are much easier to maintain. The brush bars can be taken out and replaced, and if you have to replace the cleaner head, it's very easy to do.

I have a DC28, and I washed the brush roller bar area, because the "viewing window" and whole brush area was coated with 1/4 of crud I wasn't able to get out with any tools.. The roller bar now won't roll, and to my horror, I see in the back, underneath, electronics, that could have gotten wet as I was cleaning the bar and the area behind it - nothing on the machine said "hey - don't get this wet". The roller bar will not role except by hand, with a lot of twisting. and the buttons to lower/raise the roller bar do not respond. Have I killed my dyson28?

this video seemed informational but it never showed you how to take it apart from the vacuum leading to a better chance of breaking something .
