The significance of h265 is not additional computational overhead in post, its that for a given finite data rate it will give better image quality than h264

I am still using the DJI Spark (Yes, I know it is very old) and am looking for an upgrade and this review was the best for the difference comparison. For me I think the Mini 3 with the screen controller would be enough for the $200 price difference. I like that DJI is making the Controller future proof as it allows for less things to be orphaned when upgrading.

As usual - great video! What was a big point for me in watching this was the Pros ability to keep focus on the subject while you fly (Spotlight). That alone would make me get it. I often struggle to keep focus on the subject, while at the same time making an interesting move. This would help me a great deal!

Good video! I stopped buying DJI until Inspire 1 and Phantom 3 Pro. I want to buy a mini for my trips because of its weight and transfer, Two questions. In the old DJI I use my iPhone mobile and when I go to very hot and sunny places, after several flights the screen of my Mobile iPhone gets dark and I have to stop flying and RTH because what I am not seen on the screen recording, everything goes dark... Will the same thing happen with the DJI RC screen remote control? The second question, will there be a way in the future to fly them with FPV goggles as in the case of the Phantom 3 Pro, I changed the rear HDMI input module and the Insipire1 already has it?... THXS

I'd never film / take photos at Iso 3200 OR 6400, but I wonder if that difference shows up at reasonable settings (let's say up too ISO 1000) ?

damn it i was going to buy a mini 3 but now im unsure if my laptop will run the 264 or 265 format things. the laptop is a HP one still going strong bought in 2015. dont fancy shelling out a grand on top of that for a drone too. gutted!

Does low reso stream controller view affect the actual resolution of video/photo taken from the drone? or the video taken stays at 1080 - 4k reso, regardless of the resolution streamed in your controller view? Thanks for answering! :)

I don’t think Ai could narrate this any better apart from the audio glitching. I’m getting this too with and when using the Zoom wireless ME, levels set okay and wondered if you were using a DJI wireless mic set up with your Lavalier. Thanks 🙏

There's been some rumors for the Mini 3 Pro & Mavic 3 about it perhaps coming (prior to release of the base Mini 3 itself). At present though, nothing compatible there for any of them (including Base).

Absolutely it is. I bet it won't be too long and Litchi app will close in on a few more of the feature differences between the regular 3 and 3 pro. Im debating upgrading to the mini 3 base or a Air 2 fly more combo used would be same expense as the base mini 3. Tough decision, i might just stick with the mini 2 and buy a 1911 a1 45 lol.

I suspect eventually. Though, I struggle to see how they'll differentiate it between the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Classic, at least with the current features.

Is the low resolution image we are getting from the controller the final image that the drone produces? or it's just a screen recording? if yes, how do we get it? does it record it automatically or we have to specify? and how do we get the proper recording in full 4k resolution?

At 5:38, H.265 and H.264 matters quite a much. H.264 is a really *bad* compression algorithm if the camera moves, meaning there is a lot of difference between the current frame and the next, like rolling action wearing the cam chest mounted when riding MTB or mounted on a car, H264 has always lots of artefacts, low compression rate, huge files, almost like uncompressed, honestly, you better use ProRes RAW (if available). No such problems with H.265 algorithm. If the camera is mounted stationary, like filming an interview or so, there’s not such a difference between H.264 and H.265 (aka HEVC).

Umm, ProRes RAW for a 4K video stream would be 12x the size of H.264 (nevermind the fact that none of DJI's gear can record in ProRes RAW). As for H265, the main benefit is size (about half the size of H.264).

@@Dcrainmaker that with the ProRes Raw was a joke. H.264 used during a bike ride are significantly larger as like filming e.g. interviews. The compression algorithm of H.264 looks basically what’s the difference between current and prior frame. The more different pixel the worse the compression and artefacts.

1. Please make a video about the difference between dji mini 2 and new dji mini 3. I am using dji Mini 2 and wondering whether to upgrade to mini 3 or not. 2. If you test the wind resistance of the new DJI mini 3, please test both the regular battery and the Plus battery version as I think the heavier Plus battery will be more stable in the wind, however no KZfaq channel has tested this yet. 3. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to DJI air 3 😅😅

Hello. 1) In many ways, my original Mini 3 review video from a few days ago is basically just a 'Mini 2 vs Mini 3' video in disguise. ;) I just titled it differently. 2) Yup, I tested both batteries actually already in the 50KPH winds. Zero difference. As with the Mini 3 Pro when I tested wind on both batteries too, zero difference either. These drones are heavily overpowered engine-wise, so the extra 30g of weight didn't make any difference one way or another. 3) Cheers!

Happend twice so far to be questioned by jandarms. They are not aware about legal requirements but they "know" something is not legal about drones. I had to google and show them they are wrong.

No class markings. Though, the class markings was again delayed earlier this year, to Jan 2024 now. I suspect we'll see DJI do what they did for the Mavic 3, and offer retrofit labels.
