THIS VIDEO IS GROSSLY OUT OF DATE. IT WAS MADE IN 2012. It was NOT made for DCS WORLD.
Unfortunately I CANNOT HELP YOU. There absolutely HAS to be a better tutorial out there better than this. I'm sorry youtube lead you to my video. If someone finds a good, natural language tutorial and would like me to put it here, I will do so, just message me.
This is a basic JTAC tutorial. Using the term tutorial loosely.

JTAC can be pretty confusing if you don't know where to begin, so I've tried to address this from a beginners point of view, if you have any questions, I'm sure I or someone else can answer them.
Also I know I didn't do everything textbook but keep in mind, it works, and a lot of people don't take this as seriously as you might (or might not). This tutorial is geared towards a very specific group of people that I play with but I think the simple language will help most new players.

aircraft check in is very important. It lets the JFO, TACP or the JTAC know what your capabilities and your loiter time.

Just wanted to comment to let you know how much I love you. Couldn't figure out why the coordinates I was entering were WAY OFF. I had no idea there was that 38T/37T thing. That fixed my first problem :D I was having another problem that I've fixed. JTAC wasn't responding to my calls. I had the correct frequency, and was using the correct radio (because I play on simulator settings). I didn't realise my weapons and tgp were off, so I switched those on and JTAC answered me almost immediately.

Dude...not a bad attempt, but you do need to bother with target elevation, otherwise you could go long of the target or short. You also need to know aht the mark is and it is very useful as it shows you were the target is and you can then get a talk-on form the mark. And as for egress, the pilot will do exactly what the JTAC/FAC tells him to do, as the pilot has no idea of any other threats in the area. Continue means that the JTAC/FAC is aware of your position and will not give clearance until he is happy of you Line of Attack/Mandatory Attack Heading

Gareth Sebburn Target elevation doesn't mean crap unless it's sending a pilot up in the mountains, otherwise it isn't necessary, but still part of the call. If the pilot doesn't have the target elevation, it won't make him miss. lol Where in the hell did you get that? I'm not really asking, I'm right.

Mate..im a real world qualified JTAC with years of combat experience...the elevations has to be inputted into the weapon other wise the weapon will miss as it thinks the tgt is either higher or lower..hence why the elevation is always send during the 9line.. gand your not right mate..

if the method of attack is bot, line 4 is not really significant as the pilot will sweeten coordinates after he is captured. line 4 is significant during boc attacks, but even then it will just be a point in space for a LGB to look for energy or in the case of jdam, the impact angle can be modified to near vertical, mitigating the error associated with low confidence elevation.

When he dropped the bombs in this video the Man Rel appeared on the left side of the Hud 10:24. That tells you to hold weapons release. Also the range bar starts to unwind and is in between the two "carrots" or little arrows inside the reticle. Hope this is helpful.

I have always done func + 9 and there is nothing else to click. Not sure if this is the correct thing to make waypoints not change, but it works for me. Also for cluster bombs I usually have them set to deploy at 500 ft.

When the bomb line sight (?) has a small dot along the line, it will begin to drop. When it's around 3, or inside the ccrp sight, press and hold the weapon release button. Alternately, when the reticle around the CCRP sight begins to unwind, release when it's between the two arrows. Consult the manual if that makes no sense, or go to the training missions.

I guess I take a lot of things for granted having been in the military for 22 years. When you're checking in you're telling the guy on the ground how long you can stay on station and work with him. I'm not sure how anyone could screw that up. lol

Thanks... unlike 3/4 of the vids out there, this is on target, short, clearly articulated. Does elevation ever matter? (adjusted in targeting for any reason?)

okay now i got him that he gives me a target.. but now when i killed the target nothing happens.. he is gone from the radio menu but he is allive.. he didnt told me that the target is destroyed.. right after the target is dead he is gone from the radio

I think the whole egress direction thing is that JTACs are supposed to give you a viable route out of the area, preferably one not littered with AAA.

Wow, those comms and it's menu actualy were readable back then. Now they're shrinked to a tiny fraction of that size and almost impossible to read... I wish they'd revert that.

Right around 1:50 you bring up the briefing menu, how do you do that. What are the key strokes? I hit F10 to get the field map but I';ll be damned if I can find a way to get the briefing menu. Thanks

JTAC keeps telling me they have nothing for me to do... I tell them I have 60 mins... Settings are on max red ground forces and min blue ground forces... My side must be a bunch of badd ass mofos and are holding them back... LOL :)

Can you play this game without a Warthog thrustmaster? I have a Cyborg F.L.Y 5 Flight Stick is that good enough as well?

I fly it with keyboard and mouse. It's definitely shitty to a certain extent , but what i'm saying is yea, definitely you can! I mean as long as it's a joystick (and the FLY 5 is not quite bad anyway!) it'll be more than enough... Flying it with the Warthog would be siiiick though haha wish I had the money :D

Yes. alot of important functions are not mapped to the warthog anyway. So even with a warthog you will still be using the keyboard alot. Only pain is you need alot of hat buttons for alot of the things and memorising all of the functions is a pain. But you will get good with practice.

Are you sure you're using the correct radio to call them? JTAC are usually on FM (the more aft radio) so make sure that's set to 30.00. And make sure you're pressing the correct Mic switch. There are 4 seperate "Hotas Mic Switch"es in the control options. "Hotas Mic Switch Aft" is for your FM radio. About wingmen: I dont play single player much, so I'm not really the best person to ask. But wingmen are on your UHF radio, selected with Mic Switch Down. Mic Switch Up isn't used AFAIK. Good luck.

Honestly I'm surprised that this video is still relevant at all, there have been some pretty ridiculous changes since I've played last and I don't know how things are now, especially multiplayer, but if it helped you I'm glad.

I am having trouble with contacting JTAC.In fast missions it says contact JTAC on 30 FM MHz (which is usually default) in briefing but your video there's a VHz frequency. All of my radio are set to TR but everytime I go to contact JTAC I am not getting a response. Any suggestions? Also if you could make a video or know of one about contacting and giving orders to your wingman would be awesome. Thanks

its not laser guided. but laser guidance during lock target can make it more accurate

Hey foodahn I noticed that you didn't drop the bomb correctly... I think you forgot to fire the laser. If you fired the laser it would've been dead accurate in the middle of those trucks. Also I think you didn't fuse the bomb correctly or something. The bomblets didn't explode.

the clusters didn't explode because the type of bomb he was using was designed to deactivate if there were no heat signatures under the explosive. it is a really cool design that solved a lot of collateral damage problems when using cluster bombs. but as a noob to this game, what happens if and how do you "fire the laser"

murtsman1 Well. It depends on the bomb you are using... If it is laser guided bomb, you need to hold insert key down and it will fire the laser (you can't let go of insert or bomb will go of course)

murtsman1 Well. There are different types of cluster bombs. There are CBU-103s CBU-105s, CBU-97s, CBU-87s. The CBU-103 is a laser guided version of a CBU-87. CBU-105 is laser guided version of CBU-97. It's just like using a laser guided bomb. Also when you drop the bomb in CCRP mode you have to be aligned with the line on the hud as shown in the video. The non laser guided you drop in CCIP mode and that is just a reticle you aim with. Hope this helped

Egress is actually very important. Egress is the direction you want to do your gun/bomb runs on because it is facing away from friendlies. This is so if any of your bullets, bombs or missles for any reason overshoot the target you do not run the risk of hitting friendlies. in a simulation, probably not that important but real work it is the difference between keeping your job or being discharged.

Close... FAH (Final Attack Headings) will keep you from overflying or flying into friendlies. Egress is used for routing and safety of flight to keep you deconflicted from other aircraft or from threats to your aircraft and should be used after you pull off the target

Hey man/chick. This video is over 6 and a half years old now. This is from way before DCS World was even a thing (I assume that's what you're playing?). I highly doubt that ANY of the information presented in this video is still accurate. I don't know if DCS World has radio interactions like this. I don't know if DCS world even has this airplane modeled to the degree that it was in this game. I should put a big disclaimer on the video when it starts.

It wasn't made for DCS: World. It was made for DCS: Warthog. This was made before DCS WORLD was a thought. A completely separate game/sim that was made in 2009 or 2010. I'm sure they didn't change much but I figured better safe than sorry. I know sim folks can be really, really, really particular about things.
