Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) is a free-to-play digital battlefield game.
Our dream is to offer the most authentic and realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks, ground vehicles and ships possible. This free download includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region and Black Sea that encompasses much of Georgia. Heya! If you play on our server be sure to check the web map for objective locations and your persistent score. Also, air transportation gives points, and destroying ground units helps capture bases.

It's a complete game changer. The ability to just naturally look around really enhances situational awareness. Also great for close range aim 9x targeting 💥

@@forrest225 totally using just a mouse and Xbox controller right now learning the cockpit. Can start from cold and dark, some take offs and landings, and shut downs. Haven't messed with weapons or carrier yet

@@Brumsfeld88 I started out with an RC Sim controller and keyboard. It's addictive, I've got a warthog hotas, mfg crosswind pedals, and an Index for VR. You don't have to do it all at once, just a hotas will make a big difference.

Playing on a ultra wide monitor do you find the cockpit even harder to read without zooming in? Even at 1080p I find myself constantly zooming just to make things clear. I'm worried a wider monitor at higher res will make the issue worse.

I didn't find it the case, as you should think of it that you're gaining more screen space on the sides for the same vertical field of view. Also helps that these big ultrawides are very, well, big and high resolution (2k for the vertical).

My experience is that more resolution is better, especially in the Viper with the small display text. I have a 4k monitor and it's hard to read things if I go down to 1080, quite legible in 1440, and razor sharp and a no-brainer to read in 4k.

Great flight! No more more 'sloppy guns' anymore. Das some good shootin', man! Though the fly-by-wire and gunsight on the F16 is fantastic. The Viper is my 2nd driver and I'm still learning it so I'd sure like to know how you got that snap shot with the 120 towards the end. I'll have to play around with that and see if I can make it happen. That was a great shot! Thanks for the upload. :)

Yeah fairly surprised it made the turn to be honest :) I was in Dog fight mode at that point, which defaults to aim-9 if you've got them. However you can hold MSL Step button for a few seconds to change weapon thanks for watching bud

@@Hellreign82 Ahhh. I always forget that there is a long-press feature on the MSL Step button. Gotta practice those quick AIM-120 shots, I always went for a manual lock each time. I honestly didn't know you could do that. Thanks for the tip!

What are the keys called to change your radar range without clicking the MFD? I feel like the time it takes me to fumble around with the mouse when things get close in is one of the reasons I get overwhelmed.

I would like to know that too. I do believe you can just map it on one of your free HOTAS buttons.

They are called OSB buttons. 1-15. Left and right mfd So you need to hover over the button and it’ll tell you which one it is, then map it as needed :)

You can also unlock the target and move the TDC to the top/bottom of the screen to change the range
