Not been out on DCS too much, but had a fun and frustrating time on Cold War earlier in the week

You gotta learn that gyro gunsight Helly! Set a wingspan, set controls for range increase and decrease. Uncage. Have it match their wings and bam. No rwr warning, pick em like grapes off the vine. You can use it for judging range with the missiles as well!

@@ilejovcevski79 It is very good. The precision is better than on the T16000M stick. The only problem for me is the smaller travel distance to the edges. But you can get used to it. Also I was pleasantly suprised it is quite easy to fly helis with it.

@@lukasplsko hmm, that travel distance can sometimes be more important then the action resolution of the sensors in cases when we don't use stick extensions. Will it be too much of a bother to measure the stick travel in cm from neutral to the edges? Stick top measured of course?

That 2nd fight was the one with Tricker. His wingman came in and did an awesome high angle deflection shot. Really great kill. It's clipped on twitch if you want to go see it from his perspective.

@@TheKenji2221 they are quite similar with the main difference being that the MLA was an improved version of the ML with regards to radar, avionics, and weapon systems. While the MLD had a greater emphasis on dogfighting and some further improvements to its radar and wing. The MLA and MLD are externally very similar and the most reliable way to identify the MLD is by the small dogtooth extension at the leading edge wing root in addition to the larger dogtooth extension on the inboard of the pivoting wing thats found on most other MiG-23s.

For low level (~1km) - enter the turn in AB at 900 IAS, pull and hold 7G, your speed should stabilise ~800 IAS and you'll be significantly outrating the F-5, like 16-18°/s versus 12-13. Up to about 4km, pulling to maintain 800 IAS in AB will usually give you your best rate, past that altitude the speed and G loading both drop off pretty significantly. Since the FM fix the 19 has much better ability to get into scissors and do 1 circly stuff, but I feel like both the F-5 and 21 still point their noses better so it isn't your best suit even though you can do it. I usually keep guns selected any time I'm close or my target is aware of me, the R-3S just doesn't cut it for that kind of work and sometimes by the time you switch back to guns, the opportunity's passed. You don't really have the ammo or rate of fire for snapshots but sometimes it's worth taking them anyway. Good to see you back in the 19, hope to join you in it some time :D

Damn, seems like a tough bird to fly in a close scrap. You had a few good deflection shots and gave it the old Hellreign, "I got this", though! Making that one F5 overshoot you to get a bead on him was perfect! You needed more active wingmen though, the baddies were all over you man.

OH SNAP!!! It's been since the module came out! - I love this module so much. The FM was recently tweaked, I remember watching your other two Farmer vids a bunch of times to get some insight into how to handle her after I purchased the module during a sale. You busted out some amazing moves in those vids I have no idea how you did it, it was masterful, it's probably been too long since your last flight to notice the differences in the flight model but I'm very, very, very, happy to see the Farmer back out again! I enjoyed the end of the vid when you started getting those W's! Way To Go!

Good to see you back doing some CW stuff! Finally! These are your best videos! When I get that IR tone and it doesn't go away I switch to cannons then quickly back to missiles. This is how I do it and it resets the tone and the tracking with it.

Yeah did the switch on switch off thing a few times :) It's more the fact that you can't fire them if you're pulling more then 2Gs-ish. Make it's hard to get angles or keep lock Glad you enjoyed it bud

3:01 is a good example of when you should just extend and run. DCS pilots have a weird tendency to always want to stay in the fight even if they're losing and on the defensive. You had a great opportunity when he went two circle to just get out of there.

Mainly because there is no penalty upon death. Just have to fly back to the AO. Not saying there should be a penalty but there is no "real" incentive to keep the craft alive.

Also if the other guy still has missiles, trying to extend basically amounts to giving them a clean shot. At this point, your best bet is to keep denying them good launch parameters and pray very hard they make a mistake (or a wingman arrives to save your skin).

it flies the exact same as it did before. loses too much speed and acts like a delta wing when you pull too hard. razbam lied out their teeth about this one. it still needs way more work.

@@nicktune1219 Maybe you should try not pulling too hard, this isn't a FBW plane that'll hold your hand and limit your inputs. Either you aren't on openbeta or you just aren't flying it right, the lift coefficient / α curve is much better now.

@@aeck2142 that's not the issue. Its a high aspect swept wing aircraft and should not act like a delta wing when you pull hard on the stick. Its a fundamental flaw in how the flight model operates. I'm gonna test it and if I get more than say, 10 degrees aoa, it is still a fucked flight model. The plane itself is still not Ina great state. The radar gun sight no longer works, and it's still missing an rwr.

Is the server just called Alpenwolf's Cold War sever? I have been looking for a server to play the Mig 19 on and this severs looks really fun. Also are there any ground targets on it at all or is it just pure air to air? Also great video dude! (Also make sure to turn on your radar and uncage your guns and you will get a lead sight)

Fishbeds a better choice if you want to be able to do a whole mess of stuff. It can do some really serious air to ground on top of air to air, but it does require a bit more patience to learn to fly. The Farmer is a viciously easy to fly aircraft by comparison, much more forgiving, but also much less flexible. When it comes to A2A the fishbed has solid side aspect missiles, and an all aspect short range fox 1 the Farmer gets Russian AIM-9Bs and the hilarious 30mms. For A2G the Fishbed gets all sorts of rockets, including some beam riding ones, good amounts of bombs (not even including the meme nukes) and pretty solid countermeasures. The Farmer gets 30mm guns, some rockets and bombs, but not very much by comparison. Personally? I prefer the 19 because of its simplicity. It feels like a supped up overpowered MiG-15Bis meat clever of an airplane, versus the 21Bis borderline ginsu swiss army knife.

The rate speed of the 19 is 600-700 for future, should be able to out rate an f5 all day. Also i dont think you ever used the afterburner in this video, you have to press a afterburner button to get it to light. Might be wrong, just trying to help

You gotta press and hold the AB button to get it to light off. Takes about a second and a half of holding it at full throttle to ignite. Throttle down to about 10,000 rpm to cut it off. Also there's mil full power and standard full power, which helps to conserve some gas (tho you can just manually throttle back a bit tbqh.)

Thanks for the info, I'll have to rewatch the video to see what speed I was holding. Maybe a little faster than that pretty sure I used the AB, at least I held the button in now and then when required (can see the green lights light up on the right side of the dash - I think they're the ones to show AB is on)

Not sure this is HIS reason, but the calculation is a little bit off, you have to aim a little forward. Known issue and being corrected for next patches.

Yeah it's not really a dogfight gunsight, this 19 variant is more of an interceptor for bombers etc. I just remember it begin slow to use, and more often than not, off the side of the hud

Also will have trouble locking planes at low altitudes with all the ground clutter, you usually get them when you are below them against the sky.

I bought the mig19 on a sale and flew it once. Haven’t touched it since. I’ll come back when it flies like an aircraft rather than a toy. Nice to see you back though, it’s been a while :)

The last time I flew this thing it had a way too dark cockpit, could supercruise with ease, turn 8-9Gs without losing speed and was unable to hold landing speed without either decelerating or accelerating rapidly due to the massively oversensitive throttle it had back then :D

Ive not really touched DCS since ED stopped supporting Win7. I cant play online on my fave servers any more and DCS offline is as boring as shit. I cannot buy the upgrades I need to build a new capable win10 PC. I wont see those early access modules finished that when I bought them said Win7 compatibility. ED dont care coz.. The have my money already. I have a friend with a win10 PC.. He put DCS on a USB drive for me to test. Result... Win7 as long as you have the required .dll does still run DCS just fine, but the DCS updater looks for the OS version. Its a pain in the ass to keep up with the constant updates and hotfixes for open beta.

I agree that Win7 is better than Win10, but can't you just buy a Win10 license instead of a whole new PC? If your computer can run DCS it can definitely also run Windows 10.

@@aeck2142 Motherboard says no. I have to disable the onboard sound, network and USB controller in the bios... Only then will win10 install without a BSoD. If I enable any of the above after install Win10 boots to a BSoD. I'll have to do the rebuild when the silicon shortage is less stupid. What erks me is ED's stance on this. As long as you have xinput4_1.dll ... DCS 2.7.x works fine on Win7 as do most games that require win8.1

That sucks. Too bad your mobo won't accept Win 10. I was able to install it on an early Intel Atom dualcore with 4GB. Isn't exactly "performing", but it installed without problems, with an upgrade path from Vista Home Premium over 8.1 Pro to 10 Pro. Since you discovered it would even run on 7 still, but just not update: Get VirtualBox and set up a virtual machine that runs Win 10, you can even just install it and run the trial without a key to see if this works. Might be possible that it will install in there. Then all you have to achieve is having the VM access your Host's DCS folder. With that you'd just run the updater from within the Win 10 VM. That should be possible since DCS doesn't rely on registry entries, which is basically the same reason it works for you if you copy it over from another rig.

@@sahhull Sure. They simply could have said "We don't support Win 7 anymore, if it gets broken on Win 7, we might not fix your problem" instead of adding a code line that just prevents it from updating even though it still works just fine...

You are waiting to long to maneuver and firing outside the envelope. Once you see where he is headed you need to make your adjustment to get a guns solution immediately. You cant wait to after he crosses your nose or you will never hit him. You are really awful at dogfighting.
