I got DCS strictly for the F-14. Heatblur you're a legend.

The Tomcat to me is the coolest model Heatblur has made so far. Definitely worth giving a try. It's challenging but so much fun to fly and packed with beautiful details.

I’ve got most of the modules and the F-14 has almost ruined all the other planes for me- the flight model and systems have an incredible amount of character, the performance is stunning even when you disregard the era it’s from (and I fly mostly then-A!!), Jester is great and does a lot of the hard work for you, and the worn, photorealistic cockpit makes any other plane’s feel quite cartoony/CG by comparison- I’ve never done anything in DCS (or any sim/game) more satisfying than nailing a 3-wire after a hard won dogfight- and that’s after hundreds of crappy bolsters, wave offs and tail strikes while building hours…

I purchased this module with it being such a classic aircraft, the same with the Harrier. I flew a single circuit in Vegas in each aircraft and landed, and haven’t touched them since. I just love the helicopters in DCS and the tactical side of warfare while flying such complicated aerodynamically challenging machines.

It's incredible you can hype me up so much for something I already bought on pre-release!! Congrats to who made the video, it's awesome

In history of Simming, no one ever came close to this mastepiece, the upcoming top mach studios payware F-22 has a chance though sadly its for MSFS2020

High g turn will break its wings. Dogfight situation will lose control and spin. Awg-9 in TWS mode is easy to lose contact (don’t complain your enemies doing crazy manoeuvring). Jester sometimes do some stupid things ( suddenly switch TWS to RWS……). But I just love the Cat. The cat just like how your first ex girlfriend treated you. Maybe the typhoon will become my new girlfriend.

I've been poking around in MSFS2020 and have always flirted with the idea of trying DCS. F-14 is my favorite aircraft ever and this sale I believe is going to finally get me into DCS to try it out.

I'll add to the comments saying this module is amazing. It is, very much so. If you like air to air, once you learn how the radar works and how to tell Jester to set it up right, it's a monster in BVR and no slouch up close, but because it has no fly by wire you have to fly the plane and it can bite you, which honestly makes the plane more fun to fly. Air to dround it's not bad at all if you want to cart around dumb bombs it has a pretty good CCIP and can carry a lot of bombs. Only problem if you're attacking defended targets you can't self-lase targets for your laser guided bombs in multiplayer because Jester can't use the pod (yet). Also you can only carry four LGBs but that's less of an issue, especially in a multiplayer environment. You also have a ton of fuel and don't burn through it phenomenally quickly, alongside the fact that the drop tanks don't add much of a performance hit so you don't have to punch them off in combat like most other planes, so range anxiety is a thing that happens to other planes. Naturally you can air to air refuel if you want. The textures inside and out of the cockpit are phenomenal, as is the sound design and the "feedback" you get from the jet as you fly it- you get a lot of situational awareness just from listening to the way the airframe is shaking and rattling. The one big issue I have with the module is if any axes are bound to the thumbstick on a Thrustmaster Warthog throttle, the software just flags an error on the roll axis and won't allow any inputs to be bound to it, which is very odd. Where I don't have pedals I use that ministick as my rudder, so on the Warthog I have to use they keyboard for the rudder. It makes landings tricky but not impossible. If you have pedals it won't be a problem.

The Heatblur Tomcat was awesome and I absolutely loved it circa 2019-spring 2020 when you could do all the guns BFM/ACM techniques Okie Nance talks about using vs Eagles, Vipers, and Hornets in aircrew interview episodes. Now good luck trying to get any of that to work. As of January 2023 the HBF14B is an absolute chudd at pvp 1v1 guns BFM/ACM and it's been that way for the past 2 years with no sign of anything getting fixed. Feels miserably underpowered no matter the altitude. Doesn't turn worth a shit. Worthless in the vertical. Doesn't retain/regain energy on a timeline that's useful at all if you want to kill your opponent. Doesn't accelerate. HB F14B can't even reach the claimed IRL mach 2.23 straight line top speed, best I've seen is 1.8ish clean and light and that was an absolute struggle. If high thrust/low wing loading was a thing IRL for the F-14B that doesn't seem to have carried over or been properly modeled in the build of HB F14 that's existed for the past 2.5 years. I loved the Heatblur F14B up until fall 2020. I hate what heatblurs done to it since. Flies like a trashy gamified war thunder dog turd now. And Jester AI is every bit the worthless kind of RIO Nance said needed to be selling shoes n shit instead of being a NFO.

@heatblur I've spent the last ~2+ years in mourning because the F14B is so wretched STR/ITR/TWR/lift-wise in BFM. Also the fragile flap damage model neutered it below 300kts. When you guys frailized/fragilized the F14B flaps and it went from being so awesome at BFM to being so wretched at BFM, part of me died.

Be advised that the F-14 still has a huge delay issue with the controls. A serious controllability issue that no one seems to acknowledge or willing to fix, @Heatblur I am talking to you. The issue being that the user input has a 1/4th sec lag between actual user control input and aircraft stick movement on the screen. Which sits on top of the 1/4th of a second delay that the F-14 allegedly has in its hydraulic system…Which creates a huge, usually above 0,5 second delay on top of any server lag or PC low performance. @Heatblur let me point out that this lag is 100% IRRELEVANT to any user’s pc system performance and inability to process the data, it is purely a lag cause by the coding.

I signed up for the trial and gave it a shot. Wow archaic systems and poor situational awareness. I'm used to have all the bells and whistles or none. This is a confusing one. But the thing flies awesome and no other jet gives you the feeling of speed as this one. Handles like a pig at low speeds. But the immersion is great. I think I may "pull the trigger" pardon the pun
