Hey guys! This video is a comprehensive cold start tutorial for the DCS Mirage F1CE from Aerges. In this video we go over some interesting facts about the Mirage F1BQ and F1EQ as well as delve deep into the differences between using a checklist as a Do-List and as a Checklist. My strategy for flows around the cockpit for a quick and efficient start up and some tips of how to keep your ground crew and fellow pilots safe with your external lights.

@@safety_doggo2 I’d guess you’d need the stand alone 2.7 Beta seeing as it’s a work in progress, but that’s just an educated guess

Im assuming your referring to the EGT never going abour 425C on the start? That does seem awfully low, now to mention how quickly the engine spools to idle.

I see how the cockpit layout is similar to it's successor, the M2K. It's nice that people already familiar with that one will have an easier time!

I typically purchase any add on that seems worthy if for no other reason than to support developers like Aerges. And let’s admit it, even if all you do is learn how to start, fly, tear a whole in the sky, and land, this one has a lot of promise. It’s always good to see developers doing something different than the typical 4th Gen fighter that we usually see so this will be a day 2 purchase for me only because that’s when I get paid. :)

Jump to 4:50 for the beginning of the actual cold start procedure. It seems like Aerges should just make the radar hood removable at any point. In a sim environment there is no reason to restrict it to cold and dark with the canopy open or leave it up to mission editors to remember.

I agree, but also I don’t think you’d be able to remove it IRL while in flight, so realism vs gameism

@@Spudknocker Exactly. If you dismount it in flight, it would have to displace some snack space, which is obviously 100% unacceptable!

@@Spudknocker Normally I am a stickler for proper systems and realism but things like this deserve an exception. There are a lot of little things in DCS that are tweaked for quality of life like being able to hide the stick at anytime so this should be included. Hopefully someone at Aerges agrees as well.

Bet the glare shield comes in handy with high quality lighting. Lots of times I've cursed sun glare across the screens of my other jets.

I've been asking for the VR hands to cast shadows for years... would be so cool. And a similar feature for the mouse cursor for all the pancake pilots, similar to the flashlight (which doesn't work in VR if you use touch controllers instead of the mouse)

Hey Spud, do you think an F1EQ would be feasible in DCS as a flyable variant? I know that Dassault destroyed EQ documentation, but there are still examples in Iranian service. It would undoubtedly be a big headache for Aerges, but I know the DCS community would die for an F1EQ. Plus, it would bring a lot to the table in DCS. In my opinion, the three most important aircraft for the Iran-Iraq War in DCS is the F-14, F-4, and Mirage F1. By the end of the year, we should have all three. An F1EQ would properly fill this in as it should be. An F1CE or even F1EE just isn’t the same, despite how awesome they are / will be.

Next time please choose a well lit place to film these. Some of this was a bit hard to follow due to the interaction happening in the shadows of the cockpit in your video. Great video as always, very helpful thank you!

This is not his fault. During launch, the F1's cockpit is ridiculously dark. It got fixed in subsequent patches.

You do! and its a BQ, I believe only the BQ and EQ could carry them

I may be wrong, but I believe our CE has the Cyrano IV-M, which should have the ability to guide S530s (Same radar as the French C-200). So technically every Spanish F-1 we are getting should be able to carry them

Yes, but not at release. It’ll be the third variant to be released. However it is part of the same module, so you’ll be able to fly it without any additional purchase.

Agreed it sucks! But its up to the mission builder actually! The option resides in the additional aircraft properties tab of the mission editor
