The DCX BOOST is a very versatile Tone Shaper & Drive pedal, inspired by the UA 610 preamp. We delved into our pedal collection and paired the DCX with some of our favourite gear. Here is a small selection of the tones and tricks you can expect from the Origin Effects DCX BOOST.
We hope this inspires you to experiment with your DCX alongside the weird and wonderful pedals you already own.

Additional Information:
Speaker cabinet IRs are indicated on screen. Speaker cabinet choice changes from clip-to-clip.
Guitar Amp-Recreation Demos:
Demos featuring our Amp-Recreation pedals (RD Compact Hot Rod, DELUXE61) were recorded direct using IRs, with no traditional guitar amp in the signal path. Each pedal's POST-DRIVE-EQ is set to P/AMP mode, allowing the pedals to act in place of a traditional amplifier. The settings seen on screen are the exact settings you're hearing. An off-screen Two Notes Cab M is providing the IR.
DI Guitar Tone Demo:
Clip 14 was recorded via a flat DI with no additional processing in post.
Guitar amp demos:
Demos recorded with traditional, valve guitar amps (Deluxe Reverb) were recorded using a load box. After which the signal was sent to the same IR loader as used during the Amp-Recreation demos.
WDW:
These demos were recording using a WDW setup. Reverb and delay were provided by the Strymon Bigsky & Timeline.
Recording & Post Processing:
All tracks were recorded via a Focusrite interface with no additional mic-pres or outboard. No EQ, compression, reverb or delay was added during the recording or export process.

Great vid, Origin Effects - exactly what I didn't know I needed, haha… All those combinations with pedals that I wondered how the DCX would sound with. M-EQ, Strymon Deco, Deluxe61, Chorus (even with a quick cameo of the Strymon Ola), Direct-to-Console, Boosting Direct Sounds… Please make "More sounds" a series, guys. Keep 'em coming! BTW, came here through @SuperdangerStudios's awesome presentation of your pedals. Alex makes 'em shine every time.

This new video series is super useful. Also let’s tip the hat to @SuperdangerStudios for showing a lot of the DCX’s versatility in his video a while back. I’d echo other comments here - it’s one of those pedals that will wind up on most of my boards for the foreseeable future. Good job, OE.

Have you guys ever thought about doing more combo effects? You had the boost option on the large format Cali76 but that’s about it. The idea of having a revival drive and a Cali76 in one effect box would be so cool. Especially if there was a high end custom version with all the dip switches on the bottom and those custom iron core transformers.

The full-size RD Custom combined with blend override and boost on the footswitch provides some functionality from the RD, DCX, M-EQ and Halcyon all built into one box. You could easily run one of those with the Cali76 if you need a more full-featured solution.

That combo with the DOD 250 was killer, gonna try that. Should work good with a MXR D+ as well. I got a DCX about a month ago and couldn't be happier. It sits right in front of my RevivalDrive-C, always on. One of those "how did I ever not have this" kinda pedals. 👍

It does the LVL thing, the rc boost thing, the ep boost thing and so much more. The post fuzz tones are epic. Into the deluxe 61 trem is soooo good. Into revival drive was sooooo good. Very versatile 👌 👏

what’s the best recommendation for signal placement if we wanna put this into our whole pedalboard ? as first chain (before compessor) or after all the overdrive?

Really depends on what you're doing. I place mine after compression and after overdrives.

Do you really need to go through the deluxe reverb or can you go straight into an IR or a ox stomp in my case ?

If you're using the DCX, you'll likely want to go through some sort of guitar modeller or amp. On it's own through a cab, it is likely to sound a little un-guitar-amp-like.
