I just bought the DD underblanket and they fixed the issues where the bungee cords snapped in your video. There's loops on the 4 outside corners of the underblanket now and they have separate bungee cords with mini carabiners.

Knew to hammocking I bought this hammock with the 4x4 tarp and a Sierra madre under quilt. It’s night and day compared to that DD under quilt. It’s took me a ear now to get myself all set up but I’m ready now to winter hang. Great reviews btw really honest and detailed

Before I went away to Scotland for a week, I found your video when searching for under blankets. However, the way you tie your cord around the tree with the knots to adjust the hammock was amazing!!! I already had carabiners at either end and just used to tie cord around the tree and go from there, but those knots are a cracking idea. I tend to adjust the height after a while of sitting in the hammock, but having knots there, I just had to quickly clip on to the next knot. Simple but amazing tip. Thank you!!!

A superb watch and listen Stephen. I love my DD 3x3 tarp and Frontline hammock. I have looked at all of the under quilt options including homemade but now use my Snugpak Chrysalis Autumn Softie sleeping bag to cocoon my hammock as there is a ventilation hole at the foot end of the bag that enables the hammock to be threaded through bag. This means that when cocooned in the hammock the sleep bag insulation isn't compressed. I have added some elastic cord to the hood of the sleep bag that keeps it in situ and keeps the bag at full length. The downside is that the cocooning of the hammock in this way does restrict being able to sleep on the diagonal to a certain degree and the mosquito net cannot be used which doesn't really bother me in the winter and during summer I carry an alternative lightweight Mozzie net that I can drape around the hammock. Using my sleep bag in this way allows me to also use the bag on the floor in my bivvy bag should I choose to. You have a new subscriber. Happy wandering. Paul :)

Hi guys , just got me a DD hammock with bug net and I love it. Not got a canopy for it yet so would have to wait for a dry night before I camp in it. Just warn people not to let the fly net touch the velcro pads on double layer. Mine caught and I managed to get it apart without damaging the net but I think it could hole it if not careful. Cheers.

ANOTHER GOOD VID STEVE .....I JUST RECIEVED MINE AND HAD IT OUT THIS PAST WEEKEND FOR A 3 DAY 2 NIGHT . I LOVE IT ! IVE USED SEVERAL HAMMOCKS OVER THE YEARS THAT ARE GREAT BUT THIS DD FRONTLINE STANDS ABOVE .... I DID ADD THE WOOPIE SLING KIT AND THE SNAKE SKIN WHICH MAKES IT OUTSTANDING .... AS FAR AS SIZE , IM 6' 190 LBS US AND HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE FOR LENGHT AND HEAD ROOM WITH ROOM TO SPAIR WITH THE NET HUNG . I LIKE THE NET ZIPS ON BOTH SIDES FOR EASY ACCESS TO MY GEAR IF NEEDED , AS WELL AS HANGING OPEN IF THE NET IS NOT NEEDED . THE VELCRO SLEEVE TO ADD A PAD OR INSULATING MAT / BLANKET IS PERFECT FOR THE COLD CONDITIONS BUT IT ALSO BREATHED VERY WELL IN THE HOT TEXAS CLIMATE THIS WEEKEND , AND IT GETS VERY HOT HERE IN TEXAS , TRIPLE DIGITS FARENHIET AND I FIND IT WILL DO FINE ... THE TIE OFFS INSIDE AT THE TOP I ADDED A LINE OF CORD WITH A TAUGHT HITCH PERFECT FOR HANGING ITEMS , MOSTLY FOR A CHEAP HEADLAMP I USE AS A NIGHT LAMP FOR READING OR JUST SOME VISIBILITY .... AGAIN , ENJOY YOUR VIDS MAN , KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO ......

Like it. Nice vid, Stevie and thanks for taking the time. Good setup but does the ‘bug’ net suspension line open up the risk of a rain run-off to the hammock? Perhaps a small twisted shackle or similar to break the continuity like the carabiner does on your main hammock suspension? Cheers.

Hi and thank you for comment. I did actually try last year but I killed a £600 camera. It did not go to plan. We hiked in a few miles in driving rain, 50-60mph winds at -10c by late evening. It was a real challenge, just getting dry was a mission. We ended up roasting chest nuts, made a joint of oak smoked gammon and dried out by the fire. Even made coat hangers out of Hazel along with a bench seat. Also had a river rock one of the lads accidentally added to the fireside explode and a shard around 7" by 2" went straight through my bush shirt and luckily missed my side. It was a fantastic night and adventure. The hammock did well, the full kit did outstanding tbh. Andy our friend got soaked as his hammock was end open to the driving rain but we tested ourselves with this kit and had a blast. It would of been amazing if I had not killed my camera. 👍

Hi and thank you for the comment. That is pretty much what I have done. I basically tide the paracord which is two, basically a large loop through the hammock and then tide, I then used the hammock corde as a tree hugger with the knit system. It was easy.

Hi, thanks for the watch and comment. I personally have never had an issue with ants. If I did I would just find another spot as I can't imagine anything keeping ants away. Any point of connecting to something on the land will create a bridge for them to climb. All you can do is make sure you have zero food crumbs or items in your kit. 👍

Jesusandbible hi there, I find the 3x3 is ideal, I can set it up so it has no draughts. I find the bigger ones are harder but I find a larger tree span, then you need longer everything for setting up hammocks etc. Currently I am using 3x 2.5 and that's amazing too. 🤙

On a broad path like that you may want to check for motorbike tracks... after a branch hitting you in the melon a motorcycle / hammock crash is not only very painful but also extremely embarrassing... Maybe best not to hang across a path in general ... just saying...
@JustaDudeintheWoods
@JustaDudeintheWoods 6 жыл бұрын
Sander Tel I can imagine that would hurt, we don't need to worry though, this is my land and they would have to get through many barbed fences and gates and also cross a massive river and then clime a 60ft cliff with dense woodland to get there. We have 2.5 miles of land and that path is about 10ft behind us, it is just a footpath we use from the wood carving area to the base camp. Then behind on the right is a medieval wagon way but like is said goes to a cliff and the path is covered in holy and some huge holes at around 4ft deep.. But I agree, if you were somewhere random then definitely never cross a path of any kind with any hammock or wires or anything. But thanks for the concern and common sense 👍
