I am/was a huge Walter Mosley fan (even got the chance to hear him do a lecture at my Alma Mater). I read a lot of his novels, but this is the first time I got to see Devil In A Blue Dress (all his novels have a color to them), I think. A very good movie. Don Cheadle's character here is great, "Why you leave him with me if you didn't want him to get shot." I've only stopped reading him and many others bc I am running out of room in my space for the books and no I don't do audio. I used to love buying a book and keeping it, putting it on a bookshelf, a bibliophile to heart.🍿🍿🍿

There should have been more of these movies, but Hollywood in 1995 didn't want to commission more of these intellectual, layered, racial film noirs. It would have had to make 3 times the budget to get a sequel.

@@gardensofthegods You will be happy to know there are 15 books in the Easy Rawlins series. His friend Mouse is in quite a few. It's been ages since I've read them but I wouldn't mind reading them again, Walter Mosley is an outstanding author creating vivid images of the world Easy lived and survived in. You would really enjoy his novels, a real treat.

Yep most of the time that's the case ... I can imagine how much better the book was . For example a lot of this was all about finding the woman and then he finds out why some want the photos the woman has . You find out that one guy is a sick child predator ... the other guy beats him in the mayor's race but they don't tell us if it's because he blackmailed the bad guy about the photos but the story certainly would have been so much better if it showed him confronting the guy or going to the police with the photos and if it had shown that Predator getting in trouble all over the news and going to jail and busting his child s3x ring or whatever disgusting thing that was he was involved with with the kids . They didn't need to be graphic at all but if they had added that to the story it would have been an even better movie and bought it up to more about 2 hours long . This is still an excellent film but I can really imagine the book was much better than this due to what they left out of this film no doubt . And I wouldn't be surprised if in the book it talks more about her passing as white and what her earlier years were like with the story of the mother and the brother , and the different fathers .
