The Beaver was first introduced in 1947 with only 1,600 built before production was ceased in 1967.
These aircraft were designed to fulfill the requirements of bush pilots to serve remote places. It has excellent short take off and landing ( STOL) performance.
The DHC-2 Beaver has been widely adopted by armed forces as a utility aircraft and the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol) currently has nine. used for search and rescue.

Flew with the Civil Air Patrol out of the oldest airport in the US at College Park MD. I mostly flew in a canvas covered L-16 and never had a chance to fly in the DH Beaver until I went to Katchikan Alaska. It was a great ride. Maybe someday I get a ride in the Otter.

The Beaver is such a beautiful aircraft. Would love to have one. Maybe if I get a good enough job, lol. Great aircraft.

An-2 pilot is here. I love the DHC-2 Beaver. At some point reminds me An-2. But smaller and has its own niche. I'm so impressed by condition of this particular DHC-2. Looks like brand new! Very beautiful and elegant aircraft.

I appreciate that you turned off the background noise when the engine was doing its thing. A very nice plane and it looks very original (not an expert so I don't know if that's actually the case but it sure looks the part)

Growing up in Northern Alberta in the 60s, the sky was full of these beautiful aircraft on wheels, floats and even skis. Since everyone mostly knew everyone, it wasn't hard to cadge a ride if weight permitted. Operative instruction: go tell your Mommy! We were sometimes allowed to hold flight controls such as the crank in the roof over the pilots' hands. Best place to see them now: the harbour in Vancouver BC is chock full of them still.

Saw this exact beaver do a couple laps in the pattern at KXBP, then again at the Fall Festival of Flight at KGLE about 2 months ago. beautiful piece of work and feels so much larger up close

I had a job for a summer working for a rural phone company on Lake Iliamna and had to fly around in a Beaver on floats to make service calls. There were a bunch of them at this lake because of the great fishing at the high dollar lodges. We see them fly over our house quite a bit in the summer. We have also chartered these on floats for river raft trips. It will cost you about $1000 an hour to charter this plane on floats. On another note my wife and going down the highway one day and saw a license plate that was this I8DHC2. I'm surprised it got through the screening process.

Damn it...I got a zillion hours on the damn thing...One passenger up front, three by the big door plus three more by the little round window...You can add a ton to stuff, but it turn this plane into a pig, a flying pig that could get in trouble! But if you only load a normal weight, it is amazing what the tiny ponds this plane can get in and out easily! This is a very agile airplane, but not too stable...you are all over the place all the time!

Harrison Ford: its a De Havilland Beaver, Anne: were not going on this its broken Harrison: its not broken its call repair and maintinance David Schwimmer: i'm shure the plane is safe to get us to Makatea Harrison: there is a boat that is leaving for Maketea in 30 minuts it would take 3 days to get there.
