Time to look at an interesting guard that's quite famous in the gi, yet a bit under appreciated for no-gi sometimes; the De La Riva guard! We're taking a look at using this transitional guard to sweep, take the back, wrestle up or enter into more established guards. Let's dive into this!

Thanks for sharing and the inspiration, never really liked DLR nogi, but play a lot of RDLR. Gonna give it another shot and work on some of these to further expand my open guard.

Same here but since a while I've now been going to DLR first and RDLR as backup. Also seeing DLR not as a static, but more a transitional guard changed my game for the better 🙌🏼

At your "kiss of the dragon" section... that is not a kiss of the dragon, that is a baby-bolo. A kiss of the dragon is the turn through the legs from reverse de la riva to end up in crab ride...
