So EXO was split in 2: EXO-M and EXO-K. M stands for Mandarin and K stands for Korean. EXO-K: - Suho, D.O, Baekhyun, Kai, Chanyeol and Sehun EXO-M: - Lay, Luhan, Kris, Tao, Chen and Xiumin. Once Kris and Luhan left, they just started promoting as EXO. Then Tao left and they again just kept it as EXO. I'm upset we didn't get more of the 3 Chinese members that left, but they weren't being treated well and it's understandable that they left.

So, yes, there were only two members doing vocals in each of the versions of the song - D.O and Baekhyun in the Korean version, and Chen and Luhan in the Chinese version. These mvs were actually released as a sort of teaser prior to their "actual" debut, which is why you didn't hear all the members. There were 12 members originally - 6 were EXO-K, 6 were EXO-M, and the original concept for the group was that they would release a Korean and Mandarin version of every song, with the EXO-K members (primarily) performing the Korean version and EXO-M (primarily) performing the Mandarin version, which is why earlier songs like this feature different members in the two versions - as they lost members though, the two versions started to have more overlap in the parts in their songs because the members that left were all from EXO-M. The one that you said you didn't recognize is Luhan - he was the second one to leave EXO, back in 2014. It's okay that you don't know him, don't feel too bad ! We know that you do care If you haven't reacted to EXO's pre-debut teasers, that would also be a good thing to react to, whether it's on here or twitch or patreon or whatever, because there's a lot of content there - there were TWENTY THREE teasers (not including this mv) 😭 SM was straight up trying to kill us in 2012, that felt like the longest wait of my life. The only vocals you are hearing are the two members who are the ones you see singing in the MV. So the EXO-K (Korean) version only has D.O. and Baekhyun's voices and the EXO-M (Mandarin) version only has Luhan and Chen's voices. These are the main vocalists from their respective groups. Yes an eclipse is happening. The eclipse is what controls EXO's powers and it's where they get their power and strength from. So, that is why you see in most of their MVs that they focus on the moon or show an eclipse taking place, etc. EXO are aliens so staring at an eclipse or the sun doesn't effect them in the same way. After all they come from Planet Exo, which has two suns. LOL In the MV for "What Is Love." you see clips from some of their pre- debut teaser videos.All the clips in the MV are special clips that were originally released one at a time on their own to introduce EXO to the world, before the group's official debut. Before EXO debuted SM released 32 teaser videos over a 3 month period and the videos showcased the members and their talents, such as Kai's special dances and Tao's martial arts skills, as well as told a story about EXO who are on a quest to find each other and to find clues to locate the Tree of Life, etc. Kai was the member that was featured in the most teasers -- somewhere around 12 videos. The "What is Love" MV takes clips of those teaser videos and puts them together to make the MV. Months and years later, we have also discovered that the teasers also were teasers to EXO's discography of songs. At the time, when the teasers were released, we had no idea the significant of the songs that you hear in the teasers. But now, over the years, we have discovered that the majority of the songs that were featured in EXO's pre-debut teasers were also meant to be teasers to songs that would be released as some of the main tracks of EXO's albums. All the teasers are still on SM's KZfaq channel if you want to check them out. If you watch the teasers, you will see what we have been telling you all along, about how planned out everything EXO is involved in actually is. Most of the songs that they released even years after debut were songs that were teased to in their pre-debut teaser videos even before fans knew who EXO was. That just goes to show you why we say that everything EXO does comes back to their storyline. :D Absolutely everything has been planned out down to the most minute detail for years in advance and for years to come. However, not all of the songs you hear in the teasers were songs that made it to the albums or maybe they are songs that haven't been released yet. There are several songs in the teasers that we still don't know. Maybe they are songs that have not been released yet or maybe they may never exist as a full song. Its another part of EXO's mystery that we are waiting to discover.

This was technically a teaser for their debut and this video was meant to introduce EXO's vocals and what can their vocal line do. If you wanna see the dancers' teasers, you should definitely check out 'Time Control' with Kai and Luhan. Also I think the storyline here is them looking for clues from their past(?) cause it seems that this MV leads up to what happens in MAMA when they finally meet up and assemble.

Hi Ben! EXO debuted as two twin sub groups; each unit sang the same songs but in different languages. EXO M (Mandarin): Chen, Luhan (the other one singing here), Lay (dancing with red pants), Xiumin, Kris (spreading his arms while looking at the eclipse), Tao (martial artist, fight scenes). EXO K (Korean): Baekhyun, D.O., Suho, Kai, Sehun, Chanyeol. Kris, Luhan and Tao are Chinese, and left EXO in 2014-2015. They sued SM each at their own time for unequal treatment and other issues related to injuries and health problems. This song is pre debut, so all 12 members are present. All EXO MVs at the beginning followed these mechanics: depending on the language, you get the main featured six members (M or K), and the other six appear in the background only. That is the case for MAMA, History, Tell Me What is Love, Wolf, Overdose, Growl, up until Call Me Baby. Once Tao left, only three of the members from EXO M were left, and the only Chinese member still in the group was Lay; therefore, EXO kept recording Chinese versions of their songs, but those MVs feature EXO as one group, and the same people sing everything with minor changes so Lay can have more lines in the Chinese versions. Exact was the last album that featured Lay throughout. Since then, he participates sporadically in the Chinese main track only.

And by specialty I mean their positions because apparently talents were not enough so SM gave them superpowers as bonus. After the superpowers were introduced, fans realized why Kai was in the majority of them because he can teleport. And answered the question of why Baekhyun was not in teaser #23 because his power was light and the background lighting of that video was ahmeeyyziingggg. You should check it out though. My fave would be any teasers that has Angel-Into your world on it.

When EXO first Debuted, they were originally 12 members. They were formed into 2 units: EXOK and EXOM. EXOK was to represent Korea and EXOM for China or Mandrin. EXOK included Suho, D.O, Kai, Sehun, Chanyeol, and Baekhyun. EXOM was Chen, Xiumin, Lay, Luhan (former), Tao(former), and Kris (Former). They always released both Korean and and Chinese versions of songs, albums and MVs. Most songs was only with subunits but in Songs Growl, Wolf, and overdose they participated as a whole. But when Luhan, Tao and Kris left the group. They just became EXO. And honestly I think they're doing a lot better now than when they were in EXO. They're all really famous artists in China rn. And Kris was in an American Movie! I highly recommend listening to their older songs like Growl, Wolf, Overdose, history, Mama. And also I recommend watching EXO Showtime.
