Thats insane Geoff.. I am amazed that worked.. Superb, you're a wizard Harry!! I am going to try this with my diesel cruiser one day, I understand a small fire under the sump can slowly transfer enough heat to the engine to make starting quite easily - perhaps a highlift jack and then push the vehicle forward off the jack to bump start it? Either way.. this video genuinely suprised me!

Another method is to carry a small solar panel. Literally any solar panel. Don't even need a charge controller. Connect to the starter battery and in a few hours it will have enough power to try.

Can you start it with a dead battery ? and why you did not use the cranking handle because that thing you do is only good for 4 cylinder manual transmission if it is v8 or 6 cylinder will need a lot of power to turn the wheel unless you but it in low gear
@seriouslyseriesaustralia
@seriouslyseriesaustralia 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nasser. Yes, you can start your car provided you have six volts in the battery if do not have six volts you can use the batteries out of a torch and connect it to the coil. I have demonstrated this in a previous video. The reason why I didn't use a crank handle in this video is that most vehicles after 1985 didn't come with the option of using a crank handle, and as I mentioned in the video even if your vehicle is fitted for a crankle hand to be used it is the first thing to go missing and I have bought many vehicles where the handle has been lost over the years. As for a six-cylinder and V8 motors, you can use this method, what you need to keep in mind is the compression ratio, most vehicles of this era have a compression ratio of 8:1 to 9:1 and this method works fine. If you place it into a lower gear it exactly makes it harder to turn the motor over, believe me, I have tried it and this is the reason why you always park your vehicle either in reverse or first gear when parking on a slope. So keep in mind it is about compression ratio and gear ratio. Thanks for watching Nassar and I hope this helped. Cheers

So with an ffr you make sure the cdl is off??
@seriouslyseriesaustralia
@seriouslyseriesaustralia Жыл бұрын
With and FFR, you will need to, yes make sure the CD is off and jack up one of the front and rear wheels. One other tool you will need is to wrap a strap around the wheel, you will need to pull this (like a pull cord), without using this method with the strap it is very difficult to urn it over by hand due to the high compression nature of the 4BD1. I will endeavor to make a video on this method. Kind regards, Geoff

does this work if the starter is dead?
@seriouslyseriesaustralia
@seriouslyseriesaustralia 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Blake. Yes, it does, I was using the starter motor to help to give us a rough indication of how much voltage was left in the battery. I have placed a link below to another video of ours which you might find of interest, where I use a standard six-volt battery to start a Land Rover. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jJh0bMKfmtCdkmQ.html
