In this video we bring a Lasko tower heater (model # 751320) back to life by replacing a blown fuse (1/4 AMP 250mA). UPDATE: as of January 2024 the heater still works and hasn’t had another problem! 😑

Well I just took one apart after watching your video and there is no longer a fuse. The two holes were there for the fuse and it's labeled fuse, but no fuse😢

Great video, I had the same issue with mine. Nice with the video, clear and concise. Thanks again, you saved me $75!

Thanks so much for this instruction video! This heater puts out good heat and I suspect my fuse just blow! Now, I know how to attempt a fix. Don't know why they would solder the fuse in and place it in such a difficult please. But, if it doesn't work, didn't waste anything more than time, since the fuses are cheap! Thanks a bunch!

No problem! I filmed this video years ago and this heater still works great with the new fuse. Still use it every winter! I guess they solder the fuse hoping to force you to buy a new heater instead of repairing it…

OMG, thank you so much!! I just used your video to take off this stupidly loud buzzer!! Whenever I used it my gf would freak out every time she heard the overly loud beep and tell me it's an energy hog and whine till I turn it off. No more beeps now and I'm very happy! Thanks for your help.

Great video! Apparently this is a very common issue with these LASKO heaters! I've already thrown one out for the very same reason...now I have a brand new unit that has an issue and now that I've seen this video, will take the time to take it apart and replace the fuse...hoping that's the issue...will take a little time but cheaper than buying another unit for $60 dollars. where did you get your fuse from?

Nice tip! But why not de-solder the old fuse leads and push the new leads into the PCB board and re-solder them?

Damn MacGyver! Great tutorial, but the bad thing is that I'll play hell finding this video again when my new tower breaks down after the warranty expires in two years! You might enjoy that a girlfriend who is watching reviews with me asked "What is a torx -head" screwdriver, and my semi-confident dumb-ass said it simply has more contact points and grip (thus torque) than a phillips-head or flathead screwdriver. Then she asked if it was metric or European...🙃 That's where I was fucked... To Wikipedia searching for redemption... Two great bits that came from your video... We both understand the "innards" of a new tower heater... And you've encouraged the understanding of why the torx-head is such a simple amazing tool... Thanks and kudos!

My shuts down after like 15 second on 60 degrees. Could it be a fuse?
@ThingsHumansDo3 жыл бұрын
I’m not really sure. I am no expert by any means, but I would expect a bad fuse to not turn on at all just like with mine. It may be worth just opening it up and cleaning all of the dust out to see if it helps.

Thing I don’t like is on a smart plug you still have turn it on by hand only cut power which being that this thing uses a lot of ghost power it good but sucks can auto turn back on

Yeah, it’s a pain to fix. Unfortunately, I think Lasko does this on purpose so that when you blow a replaceable fuse you will give up and go buy a new heater.

Where do you buy the exact fuses
@ThingsHumansDo3 жыл бұрын
I found the replacement fuse at a local electronic components store. It was slightly larger in physical size, but the amperage was correct. If you search online you can likely find them, but I'd recommend looking around town first so you can save money and ensure that the fuse is the correct physical size.

I have a question hope someone can help me I have lasko heater about year now and now it won’t shut off on the set temp and keeps running for hours unless I turn it off or set it for an hour it works then .. it just started like 3-4 days ago.. any appreciable of help thanks..

I’m not really an expert on this stuff, but it sounds like maybe the temperature sensor that tells the heater when the room is warm is no longer working. My model has a long wire that attaches to the sensor which is located on the back of it and you can access when the cover is off. I suppose you could look into replacing the sensor or at least making sure that it’s not dirty or covered in dust. Maybe get some canned air and try to blow out any dust that is inside the heater or around the case. Good luck!

Where I live we had a winter storm that took out the power grid for a few days. In my genius mind I decided to try running this heater from the power plug on my Tacoma. Desperate situation. Anyways, the heater ran for about a minute before it blew the fuse. However, some fuses can blow just because they get old or for various other reasons. Seems to be a common problem with this heater.

Should not have cut off the leads, removed old leads in board, threaded new fuse w/ leads intact, soldered on back of board, clip off excess, done. The bigger issue: why did the fuse blow in the first place. You may have a component starting to fail somewhere else on the board. I hv a lasko 6405 and a relay shorted closed, the board was pulling lots of current when heater was off but plugged in. I diagnosed 2 failing caps and a bad relay. Hot plastic smell. Thought I was gonna burn down the house. But the fuse was good. Meh, chuck it, get a new one.

Done very unprofessionally. Why do you open the heater if you don't have good quality soldering iron and soldering wire. You have damaged the wires on board. Even have not tested the fuse from the multimeter before dismantling. Very disappointed ☹️.
