As a kid, I had no idea how lucky we were to have not one but two malls in little Washington…..but in the late 70s/early 80s they both teemed with shoppers and always seemed to be the place to go. I’m glad to see the Franklin (WCC) isn’t dead quite yet! Thanks for the video!

I still go there a lot. There are a few things still there including an amazing hobby shop. It’s kept very clean still and is still enjoyable to walk around in. I think businesses are really missing out by not locating here.

Anyone else remember the stores in the early to mid 70s? Chess King, Kinney Shoes, Florsheim shoes, Spencer Gifts.. but what was the shop called kind of across from Chess King that sold model trains, model rockets, stuff like that? My dad loved that store. I kind of think either they were mostly a book store or that space later became a book store.

Gander Mtn is a company I just now realized is gone. I know I haven't seen one in a while, but I forgot about them until now. Great video!

Good video. I often take pictures when I'm at my local mall because there's about two stores in it now. I think maybe three. And it used to be the place to be. Actually, two malls where I live are pretty much dead. Amazon and Walmart and strip malls killed the actual mall, but now I think it's funny that strip malls are starting to close and malls are starting to kind of come back in fashion. It's all cyclical. Just like when people start using Netflix Redbox and streaming and it killed Mom and Pop video stores..... Now streaming is dying at a rapid rate and VHS is coming back. DVDs are still out selling blu-rays..... Records are back. It's crazy

We spent most of our time at Franklin Mall, being from the west side (Lincoln Hill, Franklin Farms) and my mom's dad worked there part time, but went to Washington Mall for J.C Penny's.

Used to go here a lot when I was little. It’s sad that most places that have a significant part of my childhood are all either dead or dying.

There are actually some interesting new tenants since last time you were there, like Ollie's and Ironblast Gaming... but they also just had the local government step in to pay for an expensive plumbing repair, which doesn't bode well for the current owner's finances. It's strange to think that I remember this mall and the other Washington Mall fully functioning, now that Washington Mall is a dilapidated heap with a couple of outparcels and Washington Crown Center has been pronounced dead by many. Incidentally, some signage from the Washington Mall Toys R Us is on display at Iron Blast Gaming; There's something very ironic about immortalizing a dead mall inside of another dead mall. Lol

Ollies did not use the mall entrance. Thry have it barracaded off. A new redtaurant has moved into the Garfields restaurant and the video game storr has moved down the mall to the larger Ulta beauty.
