I think it's part of nicks character. Out of the 3 Protagonists NIck has the most heart. Got sad when he killed a gang leader, he has the aspect of inspecting sad things that happened on the outbreak. and is always so nice. Frank is that witty cool guy in a zombie apocalypse Chunk is that badass guy Nick is the nice guy who cares. The characters have great contrasts

I think it fits thematically with the other 7 deadly sin psychos too. Everyone else ends up getting killed either by the sin they represent or because of the condition it had left them in whereas Kenny admits his fault and can be redeemed.

They do in this game. It seems to be based on their stats. A high strength survivor can wield heavy blunts. And a high range survivor can wield good guns. While being low in either category lowers the variety of what they can wield in that weapon type. Also they won’t accept super combos.
