I think a lot of people are missing the point of why the two officers were immediately accusing Kyne of murdering the captain. They have a dead captain on their hands. Who's to blame? Who's giving the orders now? The two guys actively restrained the captain, they don't want to be involved with his death. So, quickly point to Kyne, who a second ago was holding the syringe that is now in the captain's skull.

This is so conflicting when compared to the game version. He's much more reasonable and calm in the game than he is here

I like to think that this is what actually happened to the captain in Dead space while in the game atleast the footage we see him it makes him seem calm and bit collected till Dr. Kyle said he was unfit for duty and had two men hold him. Which I think those were likely illusions from the Marker trying to paint Kyle as a murder. I mean we have seen that it was effecting Isaac so this movie is what actually happened what the footage was trying to portray.

I love how the comment " No one cares that you're a uni Captain , we just want to go home " is supposed to reiterate ; they just want to get back safely , only fuels Mathias paronia even more . By telling him that "No one cares " he's a "Uni " it only exasperated Mathias paronia even more as he now thought it meant the crew had it in for him . That and Kyne holding a syringe in his hand draws Mathias to only one conclusion: The crew were going to fatally usurp him.

honestly these are my favorite part of this movie, because you can feel the growing paranoia and insanity as the crew desperately tries to pull themselves together

I'd love a supercut of every bombastic speech Jim Cummings has done in this raspy voice. It's awesome how that voice is so recognizable yet still so distinct for each character's personality.

I knew I had heard his voice somewhere, he played Kraven the Hunter in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions.

I think that while there is a great case for self-defense if not manslaughter... The Captain's claims that Kyne was specifically sent by the Church to retrieve the Marker made them suspicious of his motives.

Jim Cummings is insanely talented. As someone who only ever knew him as Pete and Winnie the Pooh from the Kingdom Hearts series, seeing him like this was crazy.

Ben Mathias really looks like Edward Smith who was the captain of the Titanic which was depressing in the end when I was watching that movie of the 1953 and the 1997 versions...

Reminds me of what the Illusive Man said in Mass Effect 3 about Mass Relays - how once discovered people thought that instead of using them, they should be destroyed, because some were afraid what the devices might do to Earth with them functional. And later how he said the Reaper destruction would be the greatest mistake ever, despite them being giant killing machines, who were the terror personified to everyone.

Man the new Dr.Kyne in the remake feels off, I really liked and prefer the old voice actor and this video proves it

To be honest this movie was a good way to explain how the ship went down but it’s just bad at connecting to the original game with no meantion of the movie or how the ship layout was completely different but the remake did a good job connecting the movie to it

As of playing the dead space remake, they LITERALLY PUSHED the captain into Kyne and he accidentally stabbed him in the eye with the needle and have the AUDACITY to be like "you killed the captain" more like no bro, you pushed the captain RIGHT into my arms while I'm holding a fucking needle

Never finished watching my DVD of this, I was so disappointed by how badly it failed to get the mood of the game. The way it completely alters scenes and character motivations, too. I mean, Kyne stabbed him violently in the face while he was fully restrained, in the game. He was insane. His motivations were better than most, but he was still unable to control himself - the Marker was in control

Comparing the scene in this animation adaptation, and the video log played in the original, the scenes are not accurate. But it should feature footage of this scene, because it's better explained to how he actually died. Kyne accidentally killed the captain, because Matthias was obsessed with the church and the marker, and was trying to kill kyne as a traitor in his eyes. But Kyne struggled to breathe while trying calm the insane Matthias down. You try calming someone down while he presses down on your wind pipe! Ouch!

Fun fact, the guy voicing him also voices Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Hondo Ohnaka 😉

What is with this franchise and their love of needles to the eye?

I prefer this version as opposed to DS1 and DSR. It comes off as more mad and desperate to me, the Marker’s effects are in full swing and Captain Mathius is going completely insane. It’s a little less ambiguous on if Kyne meant to kill the captain but that’s irrelevant anyway.
