Kvelertak are a Norwegian heavy metal phenomenon who have won 3 Norwegian Grammies, toured with Metallica and set the world alight with their insane live shows. Over the years they have risen the ranks to become one of Norway’s most popular rock bands, and spent the entirety of 2016 touring the globe in support of their highly anticipated third album, Nattesferd. We met up with them at their show in LA, and spent some time exploring one of Hollywood's darkest corners - the Museum of Death.

They're mostly progressive metal, but like the title says, FLIRTING with black metal. If you listen to Ulvetid or Trepan or Spring Fra Livet, you can see the black metal influence. They've got much more elements other than black metal in their music, so I admit, it is pretty stupid to focus only on it. If you listen to Sultans of Satan, they change pretty much into ACDC at one point of the song.

While it shares some traits with screamo rock'n'roll type bands like Transistor Transistor and Bravo Fucking Bravo, this is definitely not screamo. Kvelertak is much more of a modern metallic hardcore band with somewhat black metal blast beats and guitars in there. A lot of contemporary norwegian hardcore bands share the kvelertak sound but Kvelertak has definitely rode the wave of black metal aesthetic assigned to them by people around the world - as they say in the video, the media is much more pushing the black'n'roll label on them more than they actually are influenced by bm.
